AN ARSENAL fan allegedly managed to call up the hotel the Manchester City team were staying in and cancelled their goalkeeping coach’s booking.
The anonymous bloke shared an apparent recording of his phone call with reception staff last night, wherein he claimed to be City’s coach Richard Wright.
Having allegedly found Wright’s booking number, the man was able to convince the apparent staff member that he no longer needed the room, distastefully citing a family emergency with his wife as the reason.
Video shows the prankster supposedly on the phone to the staff member as he explains: “Hi there, I called a couple minutes ago because I’m with the Manchester City team coming tonight – we’ve already arrived.
“My name is Richard Wright, I’m the goalkeeping coach but I just wanted to know if it’s possible to cancel my reservation because something with my family has come up.”
The hotel receptionist – whilst initially sounding a little hesitant at the man’s claims – proceeds to ask for the booking number.
Having managed to find the coach’s booking number the trickster reads out the number.
The receptionist thanks him and the devious prankster goes on unnecessarily, saying: “I’ve had a familial issue with my wife, she’s gone into hospital now so I won’t be able to sleep with the team tonight so if you could just cancel it.”
The prankster later shared a photo of an email allegedly from the hotel confirming the booking cancellation.
The man faced backlash though after sharing the recording to social media yesterday with unimpressed users telling him to “grow up”.
The bloke shared the clip with the caption: “Don’t think the Manchester City [goalkeeping] coach will be sleeping with the rest of the team tonight.”
The spiteful prankster’s video received over 5,200 likes and more than 250 comments from Brits condemning the move.
One user said: “All this trouble for what, they are just going to give him another room when they arrive.”
Another added: “Fairs man I’m sure you got him, free room upgrade really will show him.”
A third wrote: “Wanted Arsenal to win the title until I saw this.. What an absolutely pointless thing to do. Let’s joke about his wife being in hospital. That’ll be funny!”
Another replied: “Always said Arsenal have the worst fans going. This is utterly pointless. He will still get a room and it wasn’t even remotely funny. Tragic effort.”
