THIS is the shocking moment a lone police officer is forced into a physical confrontation with a fuming father after he arrested the man’s son.
The scrap allegedly unfolded in Salford, Greater Manchester, where it was filmed by a local who later shared the footage to social media yesterday.
The officer cuffed the young man for unknown reasons and seemingly tried to seize a dirt bike from him but was met with complications when the youngster’s dad arrived on scene brandishing a large stick.
The footage shows the teen in cuffs with the officer holding the back of his shirt and the dirt bike on the floor in front of them.
A man – allegedly the teen’s father – is standing before the pair holding a large stick and arguing with the officer about the dirt bike.
He can be heard shouting at the lone officer: “He’s just bought it, I’ve gave him money to buy it.”
As a third man comes onto the scene and tries to remove the bike from the situation, the officer, baton in hand, advances on the man and exclaims: “Get off the bike.”
As the man tries to grab the bike again the officer delivers a strike to his arm with his baton which quickly prompts the boy’s father to step in.
Winding his arm back to hit the officer with the stick in his hand, the officer strikes first, hitting the boy’s father with his baton.
A fight breaks out between the two and – both armed with blunt weapons – they begin to beat each other.
After being struck hard by the officer’s baton the teen’s father drops his weapon and begins to howl in pain.
Released from the officer’s grasp, the handcuffed teen, in distress after seeing his dad beaten, begins to shout.
The officer continues to beat the teens father with his baton, striking him in the head with the blunt weapon while the man is on the floor.
The young lad begins screaming, “F***ing help me, help me”, as the officer appears to shout something to someone off screen.
The young lad continues to scream for help as the officer advances on his dad again, shouting commands at the downed man.
The teen begins to yell to someone offscreen, “Please take my bike, please take my bike” but the officer puts an end to that idea, pointing his baton at the unseen party as he shouts: “Stay away.”
The officer advances on the teen as the pair argue, dragging the young lad’s dad with him as he goes.
The teen sits down, stubbornly refusing to go to the police van on his own accord, as the officer shouts again at someone offscreen: “Lads get them cuffs out the van. Go to the van.”
Dragging the teen’s father to a sitting position the officer now controls both father and son sitting in front of him.
The pair begin to shout at the officer, hurling abuse at him and calling him a “bully” as they argue incoherently with him.
The teen then stands and the officer immediately advances on him but the teen opts to make a break for it.
The officer chooses not to pursue and stands by the boy’s father as the lad – appearing to have now picked up a weapon in his handcuffed hands – now approaches the officer shouting: “Come on, have me now, are you going to f***ing hit me?”
The footage was posted to social media yesterday with the caption: “No words needed. Police 1 – S**tbag 0.”
The clip has since received over 6,900 likes and more than 550 comments from users largely impressed with the officer’s actions.
One user said: “Firstly, well done to the officer, secondly why the hell was he on his own?”
Another added: “Officers shouldn’t be single crewed, ever. This crazy policy to make it look like there’s more police out there is putting officers’ safety at risk. It’s unacceptable.”
A third wrote: “Great copper, stands his ground, fends off attack and controls the situation; policing at its best.”
Another replied: “Nope. Copper uses a head shot with a baton. He should be charged accordingly.”
