Mercure Perth and Capability Scotland unite for local initiatives
AN INSPIRING partnership has been forged to enhance community engagement and support essential services.
Mercure Perth and Capability Scotland have announced a charity partnership, launching with an exciting team participation in the Forth Rail Bridge Abseil on 16th June.
The partnership comes at an exciting time for Capability Scotland, with its pioneering project, the Our Inclusive Community Project, that will see the Upper Springland campus move to a new state-of-the-art facility at Bertha Park, designed to set a new standard for inclusive, empowering care and support.
Kathryn McLellan, General Manager of Mercure Perth, said: “Through our new charity partnership, Mercure Perth is supporting Capability Scotland to secure the future of essential services they provide for disabled people here in the city.
“Upper Springland has been a part of our close-knit community for over 45 years, and we look forward to joining them on the journey to their new home at Bertha Park.
“Mercure is committed to working in harmony with the communities we operate within and we are delighted to be beginning this partnership which will support a vital cause and bring our whole team together to do something very special.”
The Upper Springland campus, on Isla Road, has three registered care homes and offers residential and respite care to 59 adults with physical disabilities and learning disabilities. There is also a day service – as well as a hydrotherapy pool, theatre and walled gardens.
Louise Turner, Events & Partnerships Officer at Capability Scotland, said: “We are privileged to be partnering with one of Perth’s landmark businesses, especially at this exciting time in the evolution of our services.
“The Mercure Perth team has approached this new relationship with so much energy and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to get started.”
The new facility at Bertha Park, located just over four miles from Upper Springland, will offer an inclusive community and integrated infrastructure, creating opportunities for service users to make meaningful connections.
In addition to participating in the Forth Rail Bridge Abseil, Mercure Perth team members will also take part in various fundraising and community events throughout the year, further strengthening the bond between the hotel and Capability Scotland.
