Police pull over dopey driver who was spotted transporting giant TV in convertible – but reckoned it was secure as he “had hold of it”

POLICE pulled over a dopey driver after spotting him transporting a massive 60-inch TV in his tiny convertible.

The unidentified man was spotted and pulled over on the M60 motorway yesterday but had the cheek to tell officers that his load was secure as he “had hold of it”.

Greater Manchester Police officers weren’t buying his explanation though and swiftly issued the bloke with a roadworthy prohibition and reported him to the Northwest Motorway Police.

The officers later shared snaps of the bizarre load – which the man allegedly went to pick up as he didn’t want to pay for delivery – to social media.

The cheeky motorist told the officers he had "hold of" the massive TV.
The cheeky motorist told the officers he had “hold of” the massive TV.

Instead of paying for the delivery fee the man opted instead to drive his tiny, convertible Volkswagen EOS to pick the massive telly up.

The images show the large brown box poking out of the tiny car and stretching high into the air.

With the package rammed into the back of the small car and taking up both rear seats, the man set off on his journey home along one of the country’s busiest roads

He was soon pulled over though, with his abnormal load being both blatantly dangerous to officers and other motorists and incredibly hard to miss.

Greater Manchester Police Traffic shared the snaps to social media yesterday with the caption: “The driver of this vehicle didn’t want to pay for delivery so tried to transport his new 60” television home himself [along the] M60.

“Apparently, there wasn’t anything dangerous about his load carried because he ‘had hold of it’.

“PG9 issued, load removed & driver reported [to the] North West Motorway Police.”

The post has since received over 570 likes and more than 60 comments from users on social media left stunned by the driver’s ridiculous move.

One user said: “Unless you’re starting up your own cinema, who needs a 60 incher?”

Another added: “Should have paid for delivery, much easier & would be covered for damages in transit.”

A third joked: “Is it not a combined air brake / spoiler?”

Another suggested: “By the driver’s own admission, isn’t he guilty of holding a digital screened device while driving a vehicle?”
