Man comes inches away from being run over – is saved by lamppost as maniac motorist heads straight for him

THIS is the shocking moment a man comes inches away from being run over, avoiding a maniac motorist gunning for him only by jumping behind a lamppost.

The shocking incident saw an unidentified driver deliberately try and run over a pedestrian in Ashton, Manchester.

Filmed by a passerby, the bloke narrowly avoids a definite bone-break before brazenly pointing and laughing at the driver as he makes his escape.

Video footage shows a dark blue Vauxhall Corsa, driven by an unidentified motorist, accelerating at full pelt towards a fleeing man.

The man barely managed to avoid the car by jumping behind a lamppost.
The man barely managed to avoid the car by jumping behind a lamppost.

Trying to escape his fate the man jumps onto the kerb and manoeuvres himself behind a lamppost.

The car follows, mounting the kerb and driving through a bus stop with the motorist desperately trying to run the fleeing man down.

The car smashes into the lamppost mere seconds after the fleeing bloke manages to get behind it and comes to a dead stop.

Pointing and laughing at his assailant’s failed mow-down attempt, the man then flees the scene before the motorist can get their car unstuck for another shot at him.

As the fleeing man jeers at the motorist, they rev their engine in an attempt to get free from the lamppost.

Reversing off the kerb and back into the road to give chase to the unidentified man, they lose their front bumper in the process.

The car then goes speeding off in pursuit of the man, who is long gone, in an attempt to catch him again.

The man recording, silent until now, exclaims, “F***ing hell that was crazy”, as the mad motorist speeds off.

Seconds later he spots a car – which appears to be the same blue Vauxhall – driving past him again and pulling a quick U-turn.

He continues: “F***ing hell what’s this guy doing back?”

The cameraman continues as the car speeds off again, saying: “F**k me, oh my word, I have seen some stuff in my time.”

The footage of the failed attack was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “The point and laugh though.”

It has since received over 2,200 likes and more than 40 comments from social media users left stunned at the chaotic footage.

One user said: “I’d love to know what started that.”

Another added: “That point and laughing was diabolical.”

A third wrote: “That really worth writing your car off for.”

Another replied: “What in the Universal Credit is going on here?”
