A NEW road in Shawfair, Midlothian has been constructed in the hopes of improving traffic flow and connectivity.
The final parts of Harelaw Road, connecting the A6106 (Millerhill Road) have now been finished and opened to Shawfair residents and commuters.
This new road is set to be a key piece of infrastructure in the Shawfair development plan and will hopefully improve efforts in improving Midlothian’s transportation infrastructure.
The road provides a link between major areas while making the local train station more accessible for residents and is designed to match the surrounding areas drainage and landscape standards.
On top of its practicality, it is hoped to create chances for economic growth in both Shawfair and the surrounding Midlothian region through its travel time and accessibility benefits.
With safe footpaths now fully leading to Shawfair train station, there is now accessible and sustainable public transport options into and from the area due to the 14 minute train journey between Shawfair and Edinburgh.
Shawfair is a new and thriving community that, when completed, is set to have up to 4,000 homes, offices, schools and shops alongside large outdoor spaces.
