Scots baffled by cyclist on Glasgow road boasting unusual passenger – a dog in his backpack

SCOTS have been left baffled after a cyclist was spotted on a busy Glasgow road boasting an unusual passenger in the form of a dog tucked in his backpack.

The bloke was spotted cycling along Meiklewood Road in the city’s Drumoyne area on Saturday and forced motorists to do a double take as they passed him by.

It seems simply walking the dog may have been too easy for the cyclist, who instead opts to take his pooch on a thrill-seeking cycle towards the Clyde Tunnel.

Video footage recorded by a motorist who spotted the man cycling with his dog shows the bloke and his pup approaching a roundabout on Meiklewood Road just off the M8, with two cars on their tail.

People were left concerned for the dogs safety.

Weaving in and out of traffic and having a close call with a large black BMW, the cyclist continues around the roundabout unfazed.

The whole time the man’s pooch sits quite comfortably in his rucksack and watches on as his owner pedals the pair to their destination.

The video, which left some social media users concerned for the pup’s safety, comes to an end as the unidentified cyclist approaches a second roundabout.

The bizarre footage was shared to social media later the same day with the caption: “Spotted in Glasgow today, yes it’s a bloke with a dog in his backpack.”

The video of the unlikely duo has received over 500 likes and dozens of comments from users left divided, with some tickled by the pair whilst others were concerned for the pup’s safety.

One user said: “What’s more scary is that the person filming this (bike or car) is not really concentrating on the road.”

Another added: “’I’m just more concerned he went on the road with the poor thing. No doggo helmet.”

A third joked: “Good old Drumoyne.”

Another replied: “One passed me the other day, with dog on his motorbike, it had goggles on and a little helmet. Couldn’t believe my eyes.”
