Social media fumes over “broken Britain” as police motorcade stops ambulance on blue light emergency to allow VIP to pass through junction

A POLICE motorcade has been filmed stopping an ambulance on a blue light emergency just to allow a VIP car to pass a junction.

Footage of the incident where police delayed other emergency services was filmed in central London at the junction of Baker Street and Marylebone Road.

An onlooking motorist witnessed traffic coming to a complete standstill – which included the emergency vehicle with its flashing lights – as the police escort, allegedly for a politician, passed through.

The video of the incident shows traffic coming to a complete standstill while the VIP motorcade passes through the junction from right to left.

The ambulance was stopped dead in its tracks to allow the VIP to pass.

Travelling along Baker Street the VIP motorcade is led by police motorbikes which pull in front of the queues of traffic at the junction entrances and stop the motorists from moving.

Shockingly an ambulance with its blue lights flashing is seen across the junction from the person recording the incident.

The ambulance, clearly responding to an emergency call, is forced to wait for the motorcade as if it were normal traffic.

Once the bikes are in place the rest of the motorcade follows through the now cleared junction as they escort the VIP to their destination.

The four cars pass through the junction unhindered by traffic with their lights flashing while motorists are forced to sit and wait at green lights for the VIP motorcade to make its way through.

Consisting of an unmarked police Audi with blue lights flashing, a Range Rover, a Ford minivan and finally a police SUV, the motorcade passes through the junction and the bikes allow other cars to move.

The footage has left social media users outraged after the VIP’s motorcade appears to take priority over the emergency vehicle.

The video was shared to social media on Saturday with the caption: “The police stopping an ambulance for a politician. Broken Britain.”

It has since received over 106,000 likes and more than 6,000 comments from outraged social media users who vented their fury in the comments section.

One user said: “Surely this is illegal? Ambulance flashing lights means the matter or life or death. Every second counts.”

Another added: “Disgusting behaviour. Don’t care who’s being escorted. An ambulance and fire engine should never be made to stop if they’ve got the lights flashing.”

A third wrote: “When a politician is more important than a person who needs potential lifesaving treatment.”

Another replied: “All this privilege costs the public money, nothing comes out from their own pockets, this action is a total disgrace.”
