IAN Rankin has left fans buzzing after sharing the release date for a new TV series based on his Inspector Rebus novels.
The Scots author shared the announcement today that his popular novels are set to be adapted into a new six-part series simply titled Rebus.
The show will feature Outlander star Richard Rankin, who will play a younger John Rebus as the character becomes embroiled in a “toxic affair”.
Rankin’s announcement, 64, revealed that all episodes of the show will be available on BBC iPlayer on 17 May, whilst episode one will air on TV the same day.
Rankin shared a post this morning from Alexander Bisset which stated: “Dates confirmed the new Inspector Rebus series will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am on Friday May 17th with episode 1 on BBC Scotland that night and on BBC One Saturday May 18th.
“New cast. Should be interesting.”Sharing the post, Rankin added excitedly: “The news is out. Transmission dates for Rebus.”
The post received over 1,300 likes and dozens of comments from fans left thrilled with the latest news.
