Businessman leaves Scots in stitches with naughty word

SCOTS were left in stitches after a business recruiter made an honest mistake and was left red-faced after posting a motivational quote on social networking site LinkedIn.

Lee Harding had opted to post a three-word statement on the site last week using the words Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt.

The three words are well used within business as a manipulative propaganda tactic used throughout sales and marketing.

However, he decided to just take the first letter of each spelling out the word ‘FUD’ which left Scots in stitches after Lee realised his gaffe.

The word used by Scots generally describes someone who has done something stupid or idiotic but is also known as a slang term for female reproductive organs.

The recruiter owned his mistake and shared a tongue-in-cheek video on TikTok later the same evening highlighting his mistake.

The short clip shows Lee sitting with his arms crossed with the background of the screen showing his LinkedIn post.

He says: “I posted this on LinkedIn today, apparently FUD means something completely different in Scotland.”

His post received over 3,200 likes with hundreds of comments from Scots who were left chuckling at the post.

One said: “I’m Scottish and we used to award a FUD of the week at work until HR got all serious.”

Another added: “Oh my god, yeah that’s not LinkedIn friendly.”

A third replied: “John Lewis brought out a dragon toy a couple of years ago called Fud, everyone in my family got one for Christmas.”

Another commented: “Indeed, that something rhymes with granny.”

Lee is not the first person to mix up words once they come north of the border with several businesses stumbling into accidental PR nightmares including UPS and John Lewis.
