POLICE in Merseyside pulled over and seized a BMW after spotting its illegally tinted windows – before also seizing the tow truck that arrived to pick it up.
Officers spotted the BMW with an illegal window tint and obscured registration plate yesterday in England’s northwest.
Pulling the deep purple motor over and discovering that the windows only let in 16% light and the windshield only 56%, the police seized the vehicle and called an agent to collect and remove it.
In a hilarious turn of events however, the tow truck that picked up the banned car was subsequently seized that exact same day for overloading.
Officers spotted the tow truck later that day and pulled it over amid suspicions it was overweight and unsafe for the roads
Much to their surprise, the truck was carrying the same BMW which was prohibited earlier in the day.
Sure enough, the external company’s tow truck was soon found by officers to be overloaded and in poor condition.
The tow truck was duly also prohibited from driving along with the BMW it carried until the load was removed.
The bizarre series of events left officers baffled and social media users in stitches with images of the two, now prohibited, vehicles being shared to social media yesterday.
The BMW was shared with the caption: “The chameleon tinted windscreen, heavily tinted front windows & tinted/misrepresented reg plate drew our attention to this BMW.
“Vehicle prohibited as side windows only transmitted 16% light & windscreen 56% which is far lower than required.”
The snap of the tow truck was then later shared with the caption: “Remember the BMW we seized this morning?
“The recovery truck that came to collect it happened to drive past us this afternoon, complete with BMW on board.
“Lo and behold, it was overweight and in poor condition. Vehicle prohibited until load removed and more TOR’s issued.”
The post received over 280 likes and dozens of comments from users cracking jokes at both dopey drivers’ expenses.
One user said: “Two-fer. I believe that the recovery company owe everyone in traffic cakes.”
