A SAINSBURY’S store has left social media users in stitches with a hilarious sign in their clothing section.
The sign which tells shoppers what the prices are with 50% off left social media users tickled by the patronising manner of the sign.
Some were quick to point out that the sign may be appreciated by those who struggle to do mental arithmetic in their head.
The sign was spotted yesterday and shared on social media where many people were left to debate whether the sign was helpful.
An image shows the bright yellow sign shows the Tu clearance sale on hundreds of items of clothing.
The sign has been divided into two columns with an original price and a column offering the price with half removed.
Some on social media bemoaned the sign as “ridiculous” claiming that anyone who attended school should be able to perform a simple divide by two sum.
The image of the patronising sign was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Sainsbury’s don’t think much of their customers’ ability to divide by two.”
Some social media users rushed to the comments to call out the general public’s idiocy and back up Sainsbury’s.
The post received over 4,000 likes and hundreds of comments in just a matter of hours as users argued in the comments section of the post.
One said: “Having worked in retail, there’s plenty of people who either can’t or wont. Some won’t understand percentages at all.”
Another added: “I remember being a kid and my mum AND a shop worker both trying to figure out 10% of £40 for a 10% off voucher. The shop worker went to get a calculator and I was just like ‘Ummm it’s 4?!”
A third said: “Customers are thick as s**t. I’ve stopped telling customers how much things are then they ask me. I just point at the obvious price label that’s in front of them.”
Another commented: “‘Think of how stupid the average person is and realise half of them are stupider than that.’ ? George Carlin”
