WILLIAM Wragg, the former Tory MP who gave away his colleagues’ phone numbers to a scammer, has slipped up after accidentally revealing his Wi-Fi password to the world.
The now independent MP posed for photos in his office for The Observer after admitting to giving away the phone numbers to a scammer.
However, the 36-year-old seemingly forgot that the wall behind him boasts his – very clearly written – password.
Eagle-eyed Brits soon spotted the gaffe and panned the MP for Hazel Grove as a “security risk”.
The image of Wragg shows him sitting at his desk with a variety of papers, notes and pictures stuck to the wall behind him.
One of the small notes is emblazoned with the House of Commons emblem, with some scrawled writing beneath.
On it reads the words, “BT password: Parliament 2015!”, which Brits quickly spotted and made the connection.
The hilarious blunder has left the already red-faced MP even more embarrassed, with social media users mocking his tech illiteracy.
Wragg had already been under fire for his part in a “honeypot” scam that swept Westminster in recent weeks.
A number of politicians and political reporters were approached online by someone identifying themself only as “Charlie.”
Charlie allegedly sent naked photos to the targets of the scam after saying they met in a bar years ago.
The scammer then asked politicians to respond in kind and Wragg was one of three to do so.
After receiving images from the conservative MP Charlie went on to use them to blackmail Wragg into giving away colleagues’ phone numbers.
Wragg reportedly leaked several of his colleagues’ personal details to the scammer under threat of his intimate images leaking.
A post made on social media yesterday shows the images of Wraggs password with the caption: “William Wragg’s photo shoot for The Observer], with his Wi-Fi password on full display.”
The post has since received over 8,800 likes and more than 450 comments from social media users who slammed Wragg.
One user said: “F**k me. What did he do after the photoshoot?
“Hand out flyers on the tube containing the coordinates and access codes of Britain’s nukes, just for s**ts and giggles?”
Another added: “As if it’s ‘Parliament2015’ these people running the entire country are not serious.”
A third commented: “I do feel sorry for him to a limited extent, but no way was he ever fit for public office and no serious political party should ever have considered that he was.”
Another replied: “Oh he’s not much of a security risk is he? Maybe he needs to do a course on internet security? Or are these courses woke?”
