London locals raise concerns after “immigrant refugee camp” emerges in city’s Hyde Park

LONDON locals have raised concerns amid the emergence of what is being called an “immigrant refugee camp” in the city’s Hyde Park.

The camp – which consists of little more than tents and miscellaneous bric-a-brac – was spotted by a local walking along Park Lane in Mayfair, Central London on Monday.

With the tents dominating the landscape, locals have hit out at Westminster City Council, demanding to know what was set to be done about the makeshift settlement.

Images show several tents set up on park grounds, with people clearly making their homes inside the canvas dwellings.

The DIY camp appears to have been set up by immigrants.

A larger makeshift gazebo also appears to have been erected alongside the four or five visible tents in the DIY camp.

A couple of pallets can be seen in the image which appear to have been set up to provide an outdoor gathering area under the gazebo

Various other makeshift homebuilding materials can be seen, including a shopping trolley covered with a white sheet and several collapsable camping chairs.

The man who snapped the picture took to social media to vent his fury at Westminster City Council, demanding something be done amid claims that the “ghetto” will bring mass criminality to the area.

He shared the snap to social media on Monday, writing: “What are Westminster City Council doing about this illegal immigrant refugee camp emerging in the middle of Park Lane W1?

“Simply appalling. #Ghetto”

The post has since received over 1,400 likes and more than 340 comments from similarly concerned locals sharing their worries.

One user said: “Makes a lovely view for the visitors staying at the Hilton [and] Dorchester hotels.”

Another added: “It’s been there – and been getting larger – for a while now. We see it every week on our way into London. Pathetic.”

A third wrote: “This isn’t just Westminster, it’s in towns and cities throughout the UK!”

Another commented: “If they don’t move them on now then the summer is going to be dosser central.”
