A SCOTS restaurant will continue £750 monthly donations to benefit local charities and groups within its community after donating over £4,000 so far.
Dhoom Indian Streatery & Bar in Dunfermline, Fife, has revealed it has given away £4,250 in donations so far this year.
Now, Dhoom has pledged to contribute every month to a different local charity or group.
Dunfermline & Carnegie Cricket Club was the latest recipient with other groups including Inverkeithing United FC, Dunfermline Tennis Club, and Studio 11 Dance Club.
Dhoom Chef and Proprietor Dhaneshwar Prasad said: “We love to give back to the local community here at Dhoom.
“During Covid we donated over 500 free meals to front line workers, and it’s all gone on from there. We’re now in a position to support a different organisation each month.
“We’re trying to cover a mix of activities and age groups, so that as many different types of activities are covered as possible.”
Carnegie Dojo has managed to raise £3,000 thanks to a donation and joint charity night at Dhoom.
Dhoom sponsored the Dunfermline Press toys appeal in December and Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park received several thousand pounds from them over the past six months.
Mr Prasad said: “We are very proud to have donated well over £4,000 in the past few months.
“We know that this money will really help each and every organisation. We will do our best to keep this going on a rolling basis.
“I’d like to thank our customers, as we couldn’t do it without their support, ensuring that Dhoom is as busy as possible, especially at weekends.”
President of Dunfermline & Carnegie Cricket Club DJ Dejesh said: “We very much appreciate the sponsorship from Dhoom, which is one of Dunfermline – and Fife’s – most successful brands.
“Who wouldn’t want to be associated with this successful, vibrant business which gives back to its community?
“The money will go towards continuing to develop the game in the East of Scotland, as well as running costs associated with looking after our ground at McKane Park.
“Whilst one of the very best grounds in Scotland, it can be expensive to properly maintain.”
Mr Dejesh added: “We have members aged from six to sixty years here at this Club, which has a 167 year old history.
“Currently playing in the East of Scotland Cricket Association League (ESCA) we are hoping for a very good season this summer. We look forward to continuing the relationship with Dhoom.”
Michael Russell, Head Coach at Dunfermline Tennis Club said: “Whilst asking for very little in return, Dhoom has been extremely kind and generous with its donation which we will use for our community programme, and for competitions.
“They want to help us to achieve our goals and ambitions for the club and the community in the future.”
“This money will help a huge amount to give us the ability to expand both projects and bring in more people onboard to help grow the participation at the tennis club.”
