COLIN Firth has been spotted by a local on Edinburgh University’s Old College campus amid filming for the new Lockerbie bombing drama.
The Love Actually star was in the capital for the five-part Sky series, which will be based around the aircraft bombing that killed 270 people in Lockerbie, West Lothian in 1988.
The Love Actually star is set to play grieving dad Doctor Jim Swire who lost his 23-year-old daughter when Pan Am Flight 103 was destroyed by a bomb.
The series will be based on Doctor Swire’s book that he co-wrote with Peter Biddulph, The Lockerbie Bombing: A Father’s Search For Justice.
Now, footage captured by local Oleksandra Gumeniuk, shows 63-year-old Firth approaching the Old Campus while dressed in costume and addressing a fellow co-star.
The pair appear to be in the middle of filming as Firth carries a sturdy briefcase up the stairs.
The clip then cuts to a bespectacled Firth addressing the film crew as he dons a blue jumper, a blue tie and a badge attached to his navy-blue coat.
The clip then cuts to the campus as Oleksandra, 22, pans the camera around to show the crew moving equipment.
Firth can be seen standing in the centre of the campus and watching with his hands in his pockets.
Speaking to Oleksandra, who is a student ambassador at University of Edinburgh Law School today she said: “I am studying at the Old College, Law School and I happened to be on campus on the day Sky was filming a new series.
“I am guessing it was about the Lockerbie case and I got to observe Colin Firth as he was getting filmed by the whole crew.”
Firth was also recently spotted filming in Bathgate, West Lothian, where he met with a host of Scottish fans.
The Lockerbie Bombing happened on 21 December 1988 after a bomb detonated onboard Pan Am Flight 103.
All passengers and crew were killed as a result, including Doctor Swire’s daughter Flora, who was killed on the eve of her birthday.
A further 11 people were killed after the flight landed on a hill overlooking Tundergarth Church in Lockerbie.
