Dopey Scots motorist panned as police officers stop car bearing “one of the worst tyres they have seen”

A DOPEY Scots motorist has been panned after police officers stopped their motor for bearing “one of the worst tyres they have seen”.

Police Scotland officers pulled over the silver Citroen in Elderslie, Renfrewshire yesterday after being baffled by what they saw.

The tyre, bulging in multiple places and near bald of any significant thread, put the motorist and fellow drivers at serious risk.

The officers soon took the car off the road and issues a warning to other road users of the importance of maintaining their tyres

The tire was bulging in a number of places and had worn tread.

Images show the dangerously damaged tyre bulging in ball-like shapes in multiple places – a sign that the sidewalls have failed.

The nearly bald tyre looks at serious risk of rapidly deflating at any moment and causing a serious accident.

The driver of the vehicle has since been issued with a conditional offer of fixed penalty notice (COFPN).

The vehicle has also been prohibited from driving, taking the dangerous car off the road and preventing any potential accidents.

Officers urged social media users to check their own tyres and warned of the dangers of bulging in the tyre walls.

The post, made on social media yesterday was captioned: “This is by far one of the worst we have seen.

“If your tyre is bulging it means the sidewalls have failed, and it is likely to deflate rapidly – putting you and other road users in extreme danger.

“Driver stopped in Elderslie. Issued COFPN and vehicle prohibited from driving.”

The post has since received over 440 likes and more than 55 comments from users cracking jokes at the dopey driver’s expense.

One user joked: “That’s in a wheely bad state.”

Another added: “Wow, scary that anyone would think that isn’t dangerous.”

A third quipped: “With the state of our roads, that might be from a short trip to the shops.”

Another wrote: “Wow, how the hell can you even get a tyre into that state without it first failing on you way before it gets like that?”
