A WEBCAM has captured the exact moment a British couple received electric shocks from a MacBook laptop.
Jessica Gould was recording training videos online earlier this month using her MacBook when the laptop suddenly zapped her.
The coach from Lancashire rushed to get her boyfriend Matt Perkins, who came to inspect the 2012 device but soon suffered the same fate, receiving a shocking jolt after stepping on the charger.
Hilarious footage shows an unsuspecting Jessica staring into her webcam as she tests out the audio seemingly in preparation for a video.
On-screen text reads: “My MacBook electrocuted me and my boyfriend and I accidentally recorded it all.”
She looks intently into the camera as she says: “Testing one, two, three. One, two, three. Test. Test.”
However, there appears to be no response from the computer as Jessica waits in anticipation.
The displayed text then reads: “I was recording some training videos, but it froze so I didn’t know it was still recording. Little did I know what was about to happen.”
Tired of waiting for the video to record, Jessica rests her head on her palm.
However, just seconds later, the laptop can be heard making a faint crackling sound and Jessica suddenly leaps back with a yelp of pain.
She looks down in shock at the MacBook, questioning what has just happened, before panicking and rushing out the room to Matt, who can be heard asking what has happened.
Jessica whimpers as she tells her boyfriend: “Babe, I’ve just been electrocuted.
“I’ve just been electrocuted by my laptop, it went all through my arm.”
The clip then cuts to Matt and Jessica entering the room again as Matt approaches to inspect the device, with on-screen text reading: “Then Matt came to help but it just got worse.”
Matt can be seen hilariously tiptoeing towards the MacBook, before moving off-screen and behind it to unplug the wires, thus ceasing the audio.
The camera shakes as he attempts to adjust the wires whilst Jessica appears back in view as she watches Matt attempt to diagnose the issue.
However, Matt then appears to move away from the back of the laptop, appearing to be unsuccessful with his troubleshooting.
He then moves towards the doorway, accidentally treading on wires on the ground as he does so and is immediately zapped by the MacBook and thrown onto the ground.
He lies on the ground in pain before Jessica crouches down to help him regain his footing.
The pair then quickly walk away from the room as Jessica gives a quick glance back at the laptop in shock at what has just happened.
Jessica took to social media earlier this month to share the hilarious video, writing: “MacBook: 2. Us: 0”.
The post received over 290,300 likes and more than 1,380 comments from users left in stitches by the pair’s bad luck.
One person wrote: “Yo, he went flying across the room.”
Another said: “The way you both creeped in looking at it like a ghost.”
A third commented: “Not him doing absolutely everything to avoid touching it, just to step on it.”
A fourth added: “The way he peers round the door with you behind him.”
In an update yesterday, Jessica added: “There have been hundreds of people saying that it was a dodgy charger, that it was the electrics.
“So, I just wanted to update you, just to let you know that it wasn’t a dodgy charger. It was a MacBook charger and it was only 12 months old.
“However, the MacBook itself, was a 2012 version.”
She added: “Somebody came out after and tested the electrics and we have the all-clear. And I have tried to contact Apple.
“At first, they were really apologetic and wanted to know more information and now they’re completely ignoring me.
“I’ve definitely not opened that laptop since we were in Thailand and we’re back in the UK now.
“We both work from our laptops. I’ve not dared touch it. I had to buy another [laptop] while I was out there.”
Apple has been approached for comment.
