WATCH as a brazen Scots thief nabs a staff tip jar from off the counter of a Chinese takeaway right under the nose of employees.
The bold thief struck at Rebeccas, a takeaway on Commercial Street in Kirkcaldy, Fife yesterday evening,
Luckily, the culprit – who has hilariously been likened to Paul Chuckle – was caught on camera walking out with the jar, prompting the restaurant to issue a plea to identify the light-fingered Fifer.
Video shows the man, dressed in a grey hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms, leaning up against the counter just out of shot, with his arm in a sling.
The man stands at the counter for several moments whilst staff are apparently busy in the back of the shop.
Then, confidently and quietly, the man scoops up the pink tip jar – which is shaped like a telephone – and cradles it in his apparently injured arm as he turns around.
The moustache-sporting bloke then calmly makes a beeline for the door whilst staff are seemingly still distracted.
Swapping the tip jar over to his uninjured arm, he manages to ease open the pink door of the takeaway with his free hand before quietly slipping out and making his escape unchallenged and undiscovered.
The CCTV footage of the robbery was shared to social media last night with the caption: “Let’s try find this wee thief.
“I own Rebecca’s Chinese takeaway, the pink shop, and we found this on our CCTV, this stranger stealing our staff tip jar.”
The post has since received over 350 likes and more than 120 comments from users calling for the thief to be brought to justice.
One user said: “Well it is a take-away. Bad crack though.”
Another joked: “I knew I’d seen him, is that not Paul Chuckle.”
A third added: “Why’s he stealing from small businesses? Go rob a corporation you dafty.”
Another wrote: “Should break his other arm and [legs] when you find out, pure scum of the earth.”
A fifth replied: “Someone will recognise him surely with his arm being in a sling.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson today said: “Around 8:55pm on Tuesday, 19 March, 2024, officers received a report of a theft at a premises on Commercial Street, Kirkcaldy.
“Enquiries are at an early stage.”
