Pair of punters take to Cheltenham track in race of their own – complete with hilarious attempt at tackling hurdles

A PAIR of punters took to Cheltenham’s track in a race of their own – making a hilarious attempt at tackling the hurdles.

Footage of the two lads’ antics was captured by an onlooker on Friday after the annual horse racing festival came to a conclusion on its final day.

The duo, seemingly fancying their chances at conquering the jumps, had their spectator in stitches as they launched themselves at the hedge in a side-splittingly clumsy footrace

The video, set to the audio of race commentary, shows the pair running onto the middle of the track to begin their impromptu race.

The two lads made a hilariously bad attempt to jump the hurdle.
The two lads made a hilariously bad attempt to jump the hurdle.

The two men – one dressed in tan and the other in dark green – turn gradually to head down the incline to the jump.

The pair are watched on by their pal behind the camera who can be heard in stitches as his mates, neck and neck, race towards the jump.

The bloke in green suit begins to take the lead as he approaches the hurdle but hesitates slightly as he reaches it before flinging himself as high as he can to grab the top of the hedge.

He fails to gain enough momentum to send him over though and drops back to the ground for a second go at it.

As he does so, his mate following close behind barrels towards the hedge and throws himself on top of it, rolling over and onto the other side successfully.

The cameraman howls with laughter as his other pal in the green garb succeeds on his second attempt, following the race winner over and disappearing behind the towering hedge.

The hilarious footage was shared to social media on Saturday with the caption: “Anyone see the two-horse race at 6pm at Cheltenham?”

The clip has since received over 14,800 likes and more than 70 comments from users left tickled by the pair’s daft race.

One user said: “It’s the commentary for me, its timing and on point, class.”

Another added: “El Fabiolo has posters of them in his stable.”

A third joked: “Proving that you should never drink on an empty head.”

Another wrote: “Ah lads it’s cheating running down the hill instead of up it but 10/10 for effort getting over the back side of a chase fence.”
