WATCH the moment a dopey cyclist narrowly avoids getting himself killed after attempting to merge in front of a lorry on a busy 50mph road.
The cyclist’s brazen attempt was caught on the dashcam of a lorry driver on a stretch of road into Little Waltham, Essex yesterday.
The daft bloke seemingly took no notice of the traffic hurtling towards him as he tried to turn onto the road, forcing the lorry driver to sound his horn and swerve to avoid hitting him.
Video shows the lorry travelling along the B1008, following a minibus around a slight bend as they approach the small village.
The lorry merges into the left lane of the carriageway whilst the minibus sticks to the right as they approach a junction on the left.
In the distance emerging from the junction, a lone cyclist appears, clad in luminous yellow, nearing the exit.
However, the cyclist appears to barely check over his shoulder for the HGV hurtling towards him and instead begins turning onto the road.
Shocked, the lorry driver is forced to sound his horn several times and swerves into the right lane – which is thankfully empty as the minibus moves over at the same time – as the cyclist finally takes notice.
The biker dangerously wobbles to a stop at the side of the road as the lorry hurtles past him, mere inches from wiping him out.
Slowing down slightly in shock and frustrated by the cyclist’s near fatal manoeuvre, the lorry driver can be heard exclaiming: “F**k’s sake.”
The footage was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Ah cyclists…”
The clip has since received dozens of likes and comments from social media users left stunned by the biker’s boldness.
One user sarcastically said: “Cyclists don’t need to follow the rules of the road so that give way doesn’t apply to them.”
Another added: “A lot of them where I live don’t look coming out of roads.”
A third wrote: “Report him to the police… ah just realised that you can’t.”
Another commented: “The cycle lane is right there but he’d rather be minced meat.”
