SCOTS wrestling promoter Mark Dallas was left in stitches after his wife reckoned she’d booked a hotel with a view of Manchester United’s pitch – only for them to end up at the wrong Old Trafford.
The former Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) star shared his misadventure on social media, revealing his family had travelled down to the north of England to celebrate his son’s birthday.
Dallas from Maryhill, Glasgow had been told by his partner that she had taken care of the accommodation for the trip with a special booking in a hotel overlooking United’s stadium.
However, the 38-year-old was left stumped after punching in the details to the sat nav and feeling that they weren’t heading to the famous Theatre of Dreams.
Video shows Dallas standing in a green Adidas jumper explaining the unique mix-up to the camera, saying: “So decided to go away for a couple of days for my son’s birthday.
“We were going to do some stadium tours and then go to Alton Towers on his birthday which is the Monday, today.”
The ICW creator who recently stepped away from the promotion can be seen sitting on a hotel bed with a white curtain on the window.
He continues explaining the situation, adding: “So, my missus was booking all of the hotels, and she went ‘Listen I’ve got a cracker for the Monday night, the night of his birthday, we’re going to be staying in Old Trafford’.
“A room at the Hilton that looks onto the pitch, sounds class, brilliant – I didn’t think about it again, I put it out of my head until today when we were leaving Alton Towers.
“I thought I’ll stick it in the sat nav and I thought that address doesn’t look right, it’s because there isn’t a hotel with rooms that look onto the pitch at the football ground.”
Dallas gets to his feet and turns the camera which shows a balcony overlooking the Emirates Old Trafford cricket pitch, located less than a mile from the intended stadium.
He heads onto the balcony, revealing the view of the 50,000-seater stadium, chuckling as he says: “There’s a hotel with rooms that look onto the pitch at the f***ing cricket ground, what do you think son?”
Dallas turns the camera to his son, who is leaning on the balcony and quickly fires back with the hilarious reply: “Pish.”
Dallas cackles as he teases: “Do you not like cricket mate?”
His son bluntly replies: “No.”
Dallas laughs again as he continues: “You’ll get into it mate, we might see somebody hit a couple of home runs or whatever it is they do in cricket.
“Anyway, happy birthday son.”
Dallas wraps his arm around his son’s shoulders as the youngster, sticking to his simple answers, replies with a straight face: “Thanks dad.”
Dallas shared the video to social media yesterday with the caption: “What a blunder.”
The post received over 960 likes with dozens of comments from social media users who were left in stitches at the unfortunate mishap.
One said: “He looks well impressed.”
Another commented: “Happy birthday wee man.”
A third replied: “Least she tried lads, happy birthday young fella.”
Another chimed in: “Poor wean.”
Mark Dallas recently left ICW after starting the promotion in 2006 to give him an artistic release from his job as a lifeguard.
The company would go on to partner with the WWE for over six years paving the way for several alumni such as Drew McIntyre, Piper Niven and Alba Fyre to star on Raw, Smackdown and NXT.
