ONE of the country’s leading dental groups has announced plans to add up to 2,000 patients in one of its recently acquired clinics.

Family run Scottish Dental Care, is set to make smiles a lot bigger at Barrhead Dental Clinic, as it completes work on building a third surgery room.

It will take Barrhead Dental Clinic’s patient capacity to around 5000 as the expansion is set to take on an additional 1500 – 2000 NHS and private patients.

The new surgery means the practice will be looking to recruit a new dentist and a hygienist.

Co-Founder and Director of M&A at Scottish Dental Care, Christoper Friel, said: “Expanding Barrhead Dental Clinic represents a continuation of our growth plans.

“This will help attract more patients seeking NHS and private dental care in the area, while also providing new opportunities for professionals looking for a role at a thriving practice.

“It is our responsibility as a dental group to ensure all of our clinics are to a high operating standard to meet the needs of our patients and staff.

“We hope the expansion of Barrhead Dental Clinic is an example of our commitment to the local area, and to developing dentistry in Scotland.”

Barrhead Dental Clinic, located in the Barrhead Health & Care Centre underwent a complete refurbishment in 2019. Scottish Dental Care acquired the practice in June last year.

Practice Manager Hayley Allan from Barrhead Dental Clinic said: “We’re seeing a rising demand for services, this expansion will help us attract new patients, but also a new dentist and hygienist.

“We’ve been a staple dentist in the community for a number of years, and look forward to welcoming new patients when the new surgery opens in March.”

Construction at the clinic has started, with an estimated completion date in March.

Owned by brothers and founders Philip and Christopher Friel, Scottish Dental Care consists of 80 dentists, employing more than 200 team members, and serving around 200,000 patients.

Its Advanced Dentistry brand is a subdivision of Scottish Dental Care, with two clinics in Glasgow and Castle House Dental Clinic in Inverness, providing state-of-the-art cosmetic dentistry, teeth straightening, dental implants and facial aesthetics.

Philip, a renowned dentist and the group’s director of dentistry, sets the strategic clinical matters, while Christopher oversees the expansion strategy and group legal services in his role as mergers and acquisitions director.
