Scottish law-tech companies to offer access to legal help for UK workers

SCOTTISH law-tech companies have announced a new partnership to provide easy access to legal support for workers across the UK.

Edinburgh-based companies, Valla and Amiqus, want to enable simple support for workers through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

The agreement will use Valla’s legal platform’s generative AI to help workers identify legal issues and manage their own employment tribunal case.

This service is available through Amiqus’s staff and client onboarding platform.

Valla and Amiqus CEOs (centre and right) are hopeful for new partnership to assist UK workers.

Amiqus powers over 60,000 onboarding journeys every month for new NHS hires, civil service, and more.

Valla anticipates that these workers will be the prime candidates to benefit from its employment law support service.

Danae Shell, CEO and founder of Valla, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to agree this partnership with Amiqus.

“They have been supporters of Valla from the very beginning and are completely aligned with our mission and values – and it’s great that they see the incredible potential that our tools can bring to democratise legal services.

“Amiqus works with some of the biggest law firms across the country as clients, so we also expect this deal will open many new doors for us to bring our platform to innovative firms.

“We can’t wait to show how our AI functionality can deliver real benefits to these firms and their clients.”

Callum Murray, CEO of Amiqus, said: “We’re huge fans of Valla.

“Like us, they’re a fast growing, Edinburgh headquartered company and making a real impact in the lawtech space across the country.

“It made perfect sense to work collaboratively with them on their journey.”

Valla will be featured as Amiqus’ partner for their upcoming wallet functionality, set to launch later this year.

The wallet is expected to facilitate the use of reusable digital identity credentials for clients and streamline the process for regulated sectors.

Murray added:  “As a key partner for our upcoming wallet product, Valla is perfectly placed to reach hundreds of thousands of potential users offering legal help and remedy for people at a time they need it most.

“The two-sided value is of course there for our own clients by offering access to Valla’s cutting-edge process automation, product integration and support to our network of trusted legal advisors and experts.”

The new partnership will explore a business to business (B2B) distribution deal for law firms.

This would see Valla’s AI-augmented case assessment tools offered to Amiqus’ partner law firms, recruiters, and employers across the UK.
