THIS is the shocking moment a delivery cyclist from Deliveroo is caught holding up traffic in the Blackwall Tunnel – going the wrong way on his bicycle.
The scenes were captured last week by an anonymous driver who was left fuming at the dopey cyclist and resorts to profanities calling him a ‘stupid c**t’.
The Blackwall Tunnel connects Greenwich in South-East London and Blackwall in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, East London.
Video filmed from the driver’s dashcam show him waiting to drive off having been stuck behind a motorbike and another car before realising what was causing the hold-up.
The man on the bicycle becomes visible and seems unfazed at the fact he’s causing a delay to everyone’s evening or to the danger he is putting himself in.
The motorist starts his car and just as he begins to drive off the cyclist swings dangerously into the lane in front of him which causes the anonymous man to unleash his expletive laden comment.
The Deliveroo courier dressed all in black with the company’s traditional turquoise bag on his shoulders continues to weave past the traffic despite motorists voicing their displeasure with him.
The clip was shared to social media with the caption: “A food delivery rider cycling the wrong way in the Blackwall tunnel.”
It has since racked up hundreds of likes and comments from social media users who were left shocked at the brazen cyclist.
One user said: “Don’t tell Jeremy vine, he’ll say it’s the driver’s fault.”
Another added: “He’s a cyclist so it doesn’t matter, it will be the motorists fault, well done [Sadiq] Khan.”
A third commented: “Sick of these delivery bikers. They turn roads, crossings, pavements into a nightmare.
“Often in dark clothes and no lights at night making them nearly invisible. These companies need to take responsibility.”
Another replied: “Really? Irresponsible and clearly not the brightest light bulb in the chandelier.”
Speaking today a Deliveroo spokesperson said:“We take our responsibilities seriously to ensure the safety of riders and the safety of the communities where we operate.
“We have investigated and the rider was not working for Deliveroo during this incident.
“During the onboarding process, every rider completes a programme of road safety guidance.
“All riders are required to meet minimum safety standards and, as with all road users, they must follow Highway Code.”
