SHOCKING footage shows the state of the capital city of the United Kingdom in the 21st century strewn with dirty nappies, bottles of urine and drug paraphernalia littering the streets.
The disgusting, litter filled street was captured by a concerned local in Enfield, North London yesterday after weekly refuse collections were halted by the local council.
Many people in the area have been using bins but with no collection, the litter has been scattered throughout the streets.
The extent of the problem is clear to see as empty beer bottles and cans can be seen across the pavement whilst children walk to school complete with a large amount of smashed glass.
Several plastic bags sit untouched with unsanitary items such as soiled nappies sitting in the street in plain sight alongside what appears to be a water bottle filled with urine.
In amongst the detritus is a multitude of dangerous items including bleach bottles, smashed glass and small clear plastic baggies.
Cigarette butts and food packaging clutter up the pavement with rubbish almost entirely surrounding the base of a tree.
The shocking footage was shared online yesterday with the caption: “My council continue to ignore the rubbish problem brought upon us since the weekly collections were stopped.
“We now have this where hundreds of schoolchildren pass, I continue to be ignored.”
His video received dozens of likes and comments from social media users who were left shocked at the vile footage.
One said: “It’s amazing how the council still find the money for flowers beds, bike racks, and cycle lanes though!”
Another added: “We don’t matter to Enfield Council, we are just there to pay.”
A third said: “Councils have had their money reduced by central government street cleansing is one of the services that has suffered.”
Another replied: “Is all the cash is being spent on cycle lanes and LTNs?”
Enfield Council has been approached for comment.
