WATCH the shocking moment that violence erupts at a London bus stop as a driver is seemingly assaulted by a passenger.
The altercation was caught on camera yesterday by another commuter at a stop along the bus route in the capital city.
There, a man who appears to be the driver of the bus was set upon by an unidentified bloke who dished out a beating, battering the driver as he lay on the ground.
The video shows the red bus stopped at the side of the road with its hazard lights on as a crowd of people gather round beside it.
In the middle of the crowd, a tall man dressed in black can be seen viciously beating another man who is lying on the ground trying to defend himself.
The man on the ground is alleged to be the bus driver who seemingly exited his cab and was subsequently assaulted for an unknown reason.
The shocking footage shows the attacker landing a number of punches on the downed bus driver as he holds his hands up to try and protect himself from the blows.
The sound of punches landing can be heard as the crowd watches on, making no apparent attempt to assist the driver.
The beating doesn’t last long with the attacker ceasing his assault and picking up a backpack, leaving the bus driver on the ground as he mutters to himself.
Shockingly, several people can be heard sniggering and joking about the attack as the bus driver struggles to his feet and climbs back on board his vehicle.
There, he takes his jacket off and jumps back off, seemingly seeking revenge against his attacker.
He shouts after his attacker, who has disappeared off-screen: “Hey p***y where you at? Where you going p***y? Where you going?”
He strides off towards another bus waiting at the stop whilst a passenger follows after him, seemingly trying to hold him back.
The footage was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Bus driver again being assaulted is awful, more and more bus drivers are being spat at, intimidated and assaulted.
“Driver should have stayed inside the cab, TfL has let this go on too long.”
The shocking video has received dozens of likes and comments from users on social media who were shocked at the brutal assault.
One user said: “And when the yob grew old, he found arresting the negative emotional development within himself near impossible – and went on biffing and boxing until his early passing?”
Another added: “There is no reason why bus drivers shouldn’t be completely separate from the passengers like train drivers.”
A third replied: “London going to the pits, no-one is paid enough to deal with this sort of crap whatever their job. When did things start going so wrong in this country?”
Another wrote: “What the actual f**k is going on? Bus drivers don’t get paid to be abused and assaulted by the public.
“They don’t get paid enough for the responsibility for the passengers and other road users safety while driving a 20 ton vehicle, and s**t shifts. I could go on and on.”
Transport for London (TfL) has been contacted for comment.
