Scot left shocked after snapping pic of deserted health centre, despite waiting list crisis

A SCOT was left shocked after his wife allegedly attended an appointment at her local health centre amid a waiting list crisis – only to find she was the only patient waiting.

The unnamed man claimed that his partner had went along to see her GP in Glasgow yesterday morning for an 11:25am appointment but had found she was the only one there.

Despite the lack of anyone around, the man claims another bloke entered the empty centre looking for an appointment, only to be turned away and told that he would have to wait until 12 March.

The lack of patients comes despite GPs facing a waiting list crisis, with a report last year revealing that millions of Brits were having to wait more than a month for an appointment.

Not even a receptionist can be seen in the photo of the deserted health centre.

An image snapped by the Scotsman’s wife as she waited to be seen shows the barren health centre.

Several rows of wooden chairs can be seen gathered in the waiting room, but with no patients sitting in any of them.

The entire area appears vacant, with no staff members visible either as the woman waits alone for her appointment.

The man also claimed there are 12 GPs working in the unnamed health centre, but that no appointments are readily available to see one face to face.

The image was shared by the frustrated man yesterday with the caption: “Mrs. (sic) has an appointment [at] 11.25 am with nurse at local health centre.

“Not one patient waiting to see a doctor. Guy comes in, asks for an appointment, first face to face appointment [isn’t until] 12th of March. What the f**k is going on with GPs.”

He went on to claim: “SNP punitive taxes are doubtless a reason for the low uptake of NHS jobs in Scotland. The thing is, there are 12 GPs working in this health centre.”

“People are dying in their thousands from undiagnosed illnesses.

“The system is broken.”

The shocking image has received over 11,000 likes and more than 1,300 comments from users who shared their own stories and expressed fury at the waiting list crisis.

One user said: “We remember how good it used to be. Younger people will accept this as normal.

“It’s dismantling the health service by stealth. I bet a lot of those GPs have to top up their income working for the private sector.”

Another added: “Over Covid lockdown I tried for 27 months to get a face to face with a GP. I changed surgeries, I got a face to face after two months.

“The first words the new doctor said was ‘You should have seen a doctor sooner’, after paying into tax system all my life I’m a third-class citizen in the UK”

A third commented: “My surgery messaged me last week saying all non-emergency appointments will [be] done online from the end of the month.”

Another replied: “The doctors are now only part time, they get paid the same whether they see patients or don’t see patients, there is no accountability.

“Change the GP payment system to a bums on seats payment system, no patients seen no payment, it would cut the waiting time by 50%.”
