THIS is the bizarre moment that a pair of asylum seekers are discovered in the back of a van returning to the United Kingdom from a fishing trip in France.
The shocking clip was captured by Mitch Austin, manager of non-league football team Harborough Town yesterday who was on the trip.
Austin alongside his friends had enjoyed their trip and were on the return leg home when they stopped briefly for a coffee.
However, upon returning to customs in the United Kingdom when the van was checked, the group was stunned when a man popped out from under some fishing gear and hopped out the van.
Video footage shows the moment that the men are discovered by border force agents who are looking through the van.
Whilst the agent conducts a thorough search of the fishing gear, a dog can be heard barking in the background while Mitch records the search.
Suddenly, a man can be seen emerging from a pile of fishing rods and bait and heads out of the van, seemingly following an order from the border force agent.
As the group begins to exclaim in shock Mitch exclaims: “We only stopped for a coffee.”
A borders agent asks him: “Did you lock it?”
Mitch explains: “if I’m honest I can’t remember.”
The agent is left unimpressed and says: “Oh my god.”
Whilst the asylum seeker is sent to the side of the road, the agents continue to look around the van and can be heard discussing whether there might be more asylum seekers hiding.
Mitch’s group are left bewildered by the developments and discuss between themselves how the man could have accessed their van.
Mitch says: “She (the border agent) knew, she knew.”
His friend adds: “I said to you didn’t I? I f***ing said to you, the back doors have been opened.”
Mitch exclaims: “Oh there’s another one.”
Shockingly, a second man stands up and makes his way to the exit of the van after hiding under what appears to be a jacket.
The group continues to laugh, incredulous, as the asylum seeker is guided out of the van and sent to stand with his friend by the border force agents.
Mitch seems nonplussed and even cracks a joke with the border agent asking to check if the asylum seekers have ‘got that bream’.
He continues, asking the asylum seekers: “Boys what you doing?”
They respond with a smile and a thumbs up to the camera but keep quiet.
A man walks over to Mitch with a smile on his face and warns him to “Check, see if he’s nicked your rigs?”
The footage of the bizarre encounter was posted yesterday with the caption: “Went France caught but had a nice surprise on way back.”
The clip has gained 502 likes and 37 comments since it was shared, with users stunned at the bizarre incident.
One user said: “Happened to my mate coming back from. fishing too, he got a hefty fine!”
Another added: “The cheeky twats just laugh and give a thumbs up”
Upset with Mitch for recording the men one commented: “Laughing at others desperation you sad f*s.”
A fourth added: “So now your human trafficking?”
