Shocking moment brazen thief is caught swiping a suitcase in broad daylight in busy cafe

A SHOCKING video captures the moment a brazen thief swipes a suitcase from a busy cafe in broad daylight.

The unidentified man was caught on camera on Monday eyeing up a traveller’s luggage in the Deli Robuchon in Piccadilly, London.

After testing the waters and noticing the lack of attention being paid to the bags, the bold bloke made his move and nicked the suitcase before making a swift exit somehow entirely unnoticed.

Video shows the man, wearing a black hat, jacket and trousers seemingly queuing up in the busy cafe as he stands next to a table where a couple, deep in conversation, are enjoying a drink.

The couple’s suitcase stands next to the table, and the man eyes it up, quickly crouching down and giving the wheel a quick pull to see if the movement is noticed by either of the pair.

After his initial move goes unnoticed, the man then boldly tugs at the backpack balanced on top of the suitcase, further trying his luck.

With no eyes on him, he gives the suitcase one final pull as the couple remain unaware, before taking a final look around to ensure the coast is clear.

He then quickly wheels the suitcase closer to him, picking it up – along with the backpack on top – before making a beeline for the exit.

Making a quick getaway, the man rushes up the stairs to the door and makes his escape – with no one in the cafe, including the couple he stole from, appearing to have noticed his theft.

The clip was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “A man takes a woman’s suitcase in a London café on Monday.”

The video has since gained over 400 likes and dozens of comments from people stunned at the man’s daylight thieving.

One said: “Good thing I wasn’t there otherwise I’d give him a ruddy good hiding. He’d have a sore nose whilst we’d gleefully wait for the old bill to cart him off to custody.

“Would probably wave him off as well. Can’t stand thieves, they really wind me up.”

Another added: “Come on. Watch your stuff. Sorry they learned the hard way.”

A third replied: “What on earth? The crime rate is out of control, only one man to hold responsible.”

A fourth commented: “So weird. [What] The f**k [did] he think wasgoing toa be in there? But also, who places their bags out their eyesight in a busy place? Insane.”

Met Police confirmed that they currently have no lines of investigation into the theft.
