Harry Loo-dini: Scots musician channels escapologist to escape from locked toilet

A SCOTS woman has filmed her remarkable escape after getting herself stuck in a public toilet cubicle after a handle got stuck.

Sarah-Jane Mellin was left stranded and found herself with little option but to summon her inner Harry Loo-dini and manage to escape the structure.

The band member from Paisley, Renfrewshire tried to get her fellow band members to help her during the saga that took place earlier this week but they couldn’t get her out.

Eventually Sarah-Jane opted to show off some impressive contortion skills and gymnastics move to get herself free before having a chat with a member of the staff.

A video shows Sarah-Jane sat looking at the camera as she realises that the lock won’t budge and she is stuck inside the cubicle.

The musician shakes her head in disbelief while ‘Sweet Lovin’ by Sigala plays in the background of the public toilets.

The displayed text reads: “P.O.V. You get stuck in a toilet cubicle for 20 minutes and have to climb your way out.”

The camera pans to show a text message Sarah-Jane has sent her band members with a photo indicating her dilemma.

A snap shows the door lock stuck as she explains in the message: “I can’t open this cubicle. I am stuck.”

The door is still wedged shut as displayed text on-screen reads: “Waiting for the bathroom to be free.”

Sick of waiting, the songstress opts to take matters into her own hands and makes her way onto the toilet before she clambers onto the structure that holds up the door.

Sarah-Jane holds herself up and looks over before realising she won’t be able to free herself in one fell swoop so looks for an alternative.

The Paisley native then channels Spider-Man and manages to get her foot up high onto the lock enable her to contort the rest of her body over the top of the frame and get freed.

There are several louds bangs as Sarah-Jane gets herself out of the situation but not before her bag is claimed by a fire alarm in the process.

The displayed text reads: “The escape. Phone was in my mouth to film this.”

Just as Sarah-Jane gets herself freed the tannoy system begins to play ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves providing comic relief to the situation.

Whilst she has successfully gotten free, the musician now found herself having to explain the reason she’s jumped over a toilet door to a confused clerical assistant.

Sarah-Jane can be heard saying: “I’m really sorry. That is locked. I have not been able to get out.”

The cleaner can be heard replying: “You should have dingied.”

Sarah-Jane laughs as she says: “I didn’t know who was in.”

The woman replies: “I was wondering what was [happening] there, you should have shouted somebody.”

The camera pans to show a bag stuck on the locked cubicle as displayed text reads: “Bag caught on fire hose.”

The band took to social media on Tuesday to share the footage, writing: “Petition for the woman at the end to join our band.”

The post received 2,785 likes and dozens of comments as many were left tickled by the situation.

One person wrote: “How did you film the escape? What a legend you are. Oh my god.”

Another said: “Oh my gosh, this is my worst nightmare.”

A third commented: “Why wait for everyone to leave? Why not tell someone that was in there?”

A fourth added: “I don’t know how the f**k you managed that ’cause I could never. Well done.”
