Dashcam captures terrifying moment car nosedives over roundabout and crashes onto other side

A TERRIFYING car crash has been caught on camera, with a vehicle shockingly being seen nosediving over an entire roundabout and crashing onto the other side.

A social media user known only as “Dale” was driving through Chatteris, Cambridgeshire last week, when he managed to capture the shocking crash on his dashcam.

An unidentified man was seen crashing into the roundabout and flying over the structure, landing nose-first on the other side where he, incredibly, was left allegedly uninjured.

The dashcam footage begins with Dale approaching the roundabout as another car turns off and heads towards him.

On-screen text reads: “Eventful evening on the 27th of Dec ’23. A few seconds in front and it could have been a different story for me.”

As Dale nears the junction, a silver Skoda Fabia can be seen on the left hurtling towards the roundabout, where it crashes into the sloped side, which propels it into the air.

The vehicle hangs in the air for a second and glides over the whole roundabout, spinning as it crashes down into the road on the other side.

Parts of the car can be seen flying off as the vehicle lies in the road where, just seconds before, another motorist had just been.

Dale stops in shock as he gasps, “Oh my God” before hitting the accelerator again and indicating right, to head round the roundabout to the side where the car now lies.

He repeats, “S**t” several times as he come round and pulls off on the third exit into a small layby, before being heard jumping out of his car and running over to the scene of the accident.

Dale took to social media on Sunday to share the horrific footage, writing: “Caught a guy completely toppling his car over a roundabout.”

The post received over 122,400 likes and more than 1,200 comments as many were left shocked by the incident and impressed by Dale’s reaction.

One person wrote: “Not going to lie, I’m impressed with that emergency stop. Your reaction was spot on and so quick. Glad all is okay, and no one was injured.”

Another said: “You were so fast on the brakes, I actually thought you were rear-ended. Then I saw the car flying over the roundabout. Lightning reflexes.”

A third commented: “I’ve experienced that before at a roundabout. Looked like something from a film.”

A fourth added: “[That] proves why it’s so important to observe up ahead – not just directly in front of you. Glad everyone was okay.”

Dale later posted an update on social media on Monday, stating: “When I got to the car, there was only a guy inside.

“He was absolutely fine. I called into him and he said, ‘I can’t get out’ because obviously, the car was on its side.

“Within a few minutes, other people came as well. We managed – obviously, this wasn’t on the camera unfortunately – but we managed to push the car over on its right side, got the guy out and he wasn’t local.

“The thing is, with that roundabout, where it is, there’s no roundabout sign. Although, it’s quite clear there is a roundabout approaching.

“It’s not the most ideal approach, to be fair. There’s a mound on one side.”

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary today said: “We were called at 3:26pm to Fenland Way, Chatteris, with reports that a car had overturned at the roundabout near Tesco.

“There were no other vehicles involved. Officers attended and the driver, a man in his 70s, was uninjured.”
