Watch Scots comedian’s brutal response after Englishman’s cheeky accent jibe

WATCH the hilariously brutal response a Scots comedian had after an Englishman’s cheeky accent jibe at him.

Gareth Waugh was performing at a gig at Monkey Barrel Comedy in Edinburgh’s Old town on Sunday when he noticed a stag party in attendance.

Gareth, from Edinburgh, had a chat with the group before the best man took a dig at his accent with a jibe about the “Queen’s English” – leading Gareth to go straight for the jugular with his reply.

The clip begins with the former Scot Squad actor addressing the group, asking: “We’ve got this big group here, you guys all together yeah?

“Are we out celebrating something?”

The group quickly replies letting the funnyman know their reason for being in the Scots comedy club, saying: “Stag.”

Gareth offers his congratulations to the party, commenting: “Stag? Nice one, congratulations man and what’s your name stag?”

The stag answers back: “Martin.”

However, his posh tone of voice doesn’t go unnoticed by Gareth who makes a quick quip, joking: “Martin, very posh voice there Martin, where [are] you from? Apart from privilege.”

Laughs ripple around the room as Martin takes the joke in his stride before answering back that he comes from the UK’s capital, London.

The conversation then changes as Gareth seeks out a word with Martin’s best man, asking: “Who’s your best man out of this lot?”

The soon-to-be wed Martin replies: “Kimi.”

Immediately, Gareth narrows in on the best man and queries what’s brought them to Edinburgh, asking: “You planned the whole stag yeah?”

Kimi seemingly is unable to absorb Gareth’s words asking: “What’s that?”

Gareth begins to repeat himself saying: “You planned the stag – sorry this is called an accent mate, I know you don’t get them down your way.”

This leaves a majority of the crowd in stitches at the exchange between the pair.

However, Kimi seems slightly put out at the joke and fires back: “The Queen’s English mate.”

Gareth doesn’t miss a beat as he rapidly fires back with a joke about the late Queen, who passed away last year.

The Scots comic replies: “The Queen’s English? The Queen’s f***ing dead mate.”

He leaves the joke to permeate amongst the audience with howls of laughter being heard around the room.

Gareth then swiftly follows up, adding: “She’s speaking f**k all, alright.”

Seemingly understanding the joke he’s just made the clip ends as Gareth raises his eyebrows, puffs his cheeks and says: “Yikes.”

Gareth shared the clip to social media on Tuesday with the simple caption: “Got em.”

The video received over 10,500 likes with dozens of comments from social media users who were split on the comic’s joke.

One said: “Best comeback, love it.”

Another added: “Brilliant, fair play to you.”

A third replied: “This really took a turn.”

Another commented: “Started off well.”

A fifth responded: “Your patter’s dead mate.”
