“I’m just king”: Barbie fans left in stitches after Buckingham Palace guards caught playing iconic tune from movie

BARBIE fans have been left in stitches after guards at Buckingham Palace were caught playing an iconic tune from the movie.

The Changing of the Guard is a regular ceremony that sees a group of soldiers replacing those on duty as a band typically plays the national anthem God Save the King.

However, the band appears to have shaken things up a bit in recent days, being spotted instead playing what sounds like a rendition of I’m Just Ken – the song performed by Ryan Gosling in the live action Barbie movie.

Hilarious footage captured by Miisa Helmiina from outside the gates of Buckingham Palace on Saturday shows the changing of the guard underway.

On-screen text reads: “I was watching Changing [of] the Guard today but am I the only one who hears ‘I’m just Ken’?”

Behind the fence can be seen a large group of soldiers clad in long grey coats and black bearskin hats.

The guards stand in uniformed lines as they play music in sync with two guards marching around as part of the traditional ceremony.

Sounding from the band is what sounds suspiciously like the chorus to I’m Just Ken from the hit blockbuster that received 11 Grammy awards for its catchy soundtrack.

Miisa took to social media to share the hilarious footage on Saturday, writing: “Changing the guard”.

The post received over 295,200 likes and more than 640 comments from tickled fans left cracking their own Barbie and Ken related jokes.

One person joked: “I’m just Ken(sington Palace).”

Another said: “I’ve just imagined King Charles doing the choreography from Barbie.”

A third commented: “I’m just King.”

Barbie is a global blockbuster film, based on the titular iconic doll, that was released in cinemas in July 2023.

Featuring actors Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the film focuses on Barbie’s escape into the real world.

She is then faced with the heart wrenching decision of whether she should stay in the real world where she can make something of herself or whether she should go back to her Barbie world.

The film received 11 Grammy awards for its epic soundtrack, including I’m Just Ken which was performed by Gosling as Ken complains of being undervalued by Barbie.
