Renowned Inverclyde clinic eyes growth following acquisition
AN ESTABLISHED dental clinic in Inverclyde has become the 20th practice and latest acquisition by a leading Scottish dentistry group.
Port Glasgow’s long standing Belhaven Dental Surgery is the latest to join Scottish Dental Care, a move that will see the practice grow, as well as support its near 10,000 NHS patients.
Owner and dentist Catherine Jones established the clinic in 2005, following a move and refurbishment in 2015 the clinic has grown to include five surgeries with 20 staff, the majority of which are local to Inverclyde.
Having run the clinic with her husband and practice manager, Colin Jones, the couple sought a group that would ensure the team would continue to thrive and allow Catherine to focus on continuing to provide high quality dental care.
Commenting on the acquisition, Catherine said: “I’ve always been passionate about supporting my team, giving them opportunities to thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
“We weren’t sure if we wanted to sell, however after meeting Philip and Christopher, hearing their story and plans – especially around their commitment to training – spoke volumes about the culture within Scottish Dental Care. We knew then that this was exactly the organisation we wanted to work with.
“It’s a bonus too that everyone in the team will stay on, and that they have created a new role for Colin. We’re extremely excited to be part of Scottish Dental Care, it will see the practice grow, improve facilities, and provide great opportunities for the team.”
The practice welcomes patients from across Inverclyde, offering a range of services including NHS care for adults and children which includes Childsmile – a national programme aimed at improving the oral health of children from around Scotland.
Another key aspect of the acquisition will see Colin transition into a wider role that will support Scottish Dental Care across a number of projects.
Glasgow-headquartered Scottish Dental Care has established itself as a major player in Scotland’s dental sector, growing to 20 practices based throughout the country, from Inverness to Dumfries.
Lynn Hood, Chief Executive of Scottish Dental Care, said: “This is a prime example of an incredibly well-run community practice.
“We were thrilled to have been approached based on the strength of our culture, it reaffirms that what we are doing is working and word is spreading.
“Catherine and Colin should be proud of everything they have achieved at Belhaven Dental Surgery; we’re looking forward to working closely with them both as the group grows.
“We already have big plans and have the resources to ensure the highest quality of NHS and private provision to patients for many years to come.”
The exclusively Scottish dental group consists of 80 dentists and employs more than 200 team members, serving around 200,000 patients. Its practices provide a broad mix of treatments with most offering NHS services alongside private care.
Its Advanced Dentistry brand is a subdivision of Scottish Dental Care, with two clinics in Glasgow and Castle House Dental Clinic in Inverness, providing state-of-the-art cosmetic dentistry, teeth straightening, dental implants and facial aesthetics.
