Taylor Swift fan left baffled after brand new vinyl plays creepy “evil” tracks instead of pop star’s latest album

A TAYLOR Swift fan has been left baffled after her brand-new vinyl began playing creepy “evil” tracks instead of the pop star’s latest album.

Rachel Hunter had pre-ordered the vinyl record of Swift’s latest album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), receiving the LP last Friday and playing it for the first time on Monday.

However, the 30-year-old was bemused when, instead of Swift’s vocals, she was met with a series of bizarre, spooky electronic tracks dating back to the 90s.

Video shows Rachel addressing the camera as she asks if she is the only person to have received the ominous oddity.

She holds the vinyl record aloft whilst laughing: “Does anyone else’s Speak Now vinyl not have Taylor Swift on it because I’ve just played mine for the first time.

“I got the orchid vinyl, she looks beautiful, she looks majestic.”

Rachel, from Staffordshire, then places her record down on the turntable, but instead of Swift’s opening song, a monologue in an American woman’s voice begins to play.

In an echoey pitch, the voice says: “I quit seeing people, quit looking at the flakes of flesh and dancing organisms or rather jump the imprint of freaking attacks of anxiety.

“This all fell on my face after a dive and a trippy joint.”

Rachel then turns the sinister and depressingly toned voice note off and in amazement and confusion asks: “Who is this? Speak Now, not Taylor’s version. I’m going to flip it over and try the B-side.”

On the B-side, the vinyl continues talking, however this time a man’s deep voice repeats: “There’s 70 billion people on Earth, there’s 70 billion people on Earth, where are they hiding, where are they hiding.”

Rachel pleads “Please help me.” as the vinyl continues repeating the harrowing chant.

Rachel then stares into the camera and asks: “What is this?” as she laughs whilst putting her hand on her head in confusion and disbelief.

The wacky LP turned out to be a bizarre misprint, where instead of Swift’s album it contained two electronic tracks from the early 90s.

On the A-side was printed Happy Land, a 1993 track by Ultramarine whilst Soul Vine (70 billion people) by Cabaret Voltaire played on the B-side.

The video was uploaded to social media on Tuesday with the caption: “Send help, I got Speak Now (not Taylor’s version) this is so funny.”

The video has since received over 450,000 likes and more than 8,000 comments from users left bemused by the creepy record.

One user wrote: “No but why is the 70 billion people on earth one a vibe.”

Another said: “Ma’am that the evil dead record.”

A third commented: “Keep this. People collect stuff like this. You could probably get a pretty penny for it.”

Another wrote: “It could be a pressing issue. A lot of vinyls for portals by Melanie Martinez played Fall Out Boy for a while.”

A fifth wrote: “Okay Taylor the Easter eggs are getting out of hand.”

Another replied: “This would creep me out.”

Another commented: “This would be wild in the 70s before the internet. You would just think this is what the album was.”

Speaking today Rachel said: “It was in the evening and I was alone so at first when it starting saying ‘There’s 70 billion people in the world, where are they hiding?’, it suddenly felt like the start of a horror film.

“I didn’t know these songs at all and when you’re expecting to hear Enchanted by Taylor Swift but getting creepy messages, I didn’t know what was happening.

“I immediately messaged my friends that my vinyl was haunted.

“I ordered it from her official UK merch store, I’d actually pre-ordered it since June because I was excited about the re-recordings.

“What makes it even weirder is even though it’s that album pressed into my Taylor one, it’s still wrong even for that album.

“Because both A and B-side has Happy Land as track two and it should just be on one side? I’ve not found anyone else with one yet.

“The album was pressed in France and seems to be the same place they pressed that album but I’m not sure how the mix-up happened.

“I wasn’t annoyed, I was creeped out at first but quickly saw the funny side.

“I didn’t have a clue who was playing, I’ve found out since that 70 billion people is Cabaret Voltaire and I’ve even spoke to someone from the group who also thought it was funny.

“I’ve had a lot of messages about selling it and it’s getting a lot of attention on Discogs with people looking for another copy.

“I brought myself another copy yesterday so I’m hoping I’ll get Taylor.”

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is an album of re-recorded songs from the original Speak Now album released in October 2010.

Released last Friday, the album has already sold 640,000 equivalent album units and is the third in Swift’s re-recordings of her own albums.

In 2019, the singer came into dispute with her former record label, Big Machine Records over the ownership of the masters of her first six studio albums.

As a result of this legal dispute, Swift is re-recording all of her older albums that were recorded under Big Machine Records, this time under Republic Records.

Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was preceded by Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version), both released in 2021.
