Hilarious video shows moment Scots duck holds up entire train as it waddles nonchalantly down track

THIS is the moment a duck holds up an entire train as it slowly waddles nonchalantly down the track in the middle of a Scottish train station.

Commuter Frank Mosson captured the mother duck leading her little ducklings along the platform in front of the 10am service in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire on Wednesday.

The video begins showing the Scotrail train slowly entering station to disembark next to the platform, casually being led in by the mother duck.

Upon its slow approach the patient train driver can be seen monitoring the duck immediately in front of him as he attempts to use his horn to move it out of the way.

On the platform, two young ducklings can be seen racing along in an attempt to keep pace with the train and their mother.

An elderly passenger can also be seen walking directly behind the ducklings as he tries to usher them along and out of the way of the oncoming train.

The video ends before the train is fully in position – however the mother duck does seem to drift towards the platform.

Frank later confirmed that the duck eventually hopped up next to her offspring on the platform before waddling out the station door – perfectly unaware of the hold-up she had just caused.

Frank shared the video to social media on Wednesday with the caption: “Funny thing happened on the way to Glasgow this morning.

“Well done to the driver of the 10am EK train for his care and patience. The mother duck flew onto the platform and they all waddled out the station door!”

The post has received over 3,000 likes and dozens of comments from users praising the driver for his vigilance.

One user wrote: “I’ve heard of leaves on the line, but ducks? They’ll never believe the announcement for late arrival. Well done, driver.”

Another wrote: “Train late due to a duck on the line is a new one.”

A third commented: “Much respect for the driver with the heart in the right place.”

Another said: “Amazing. Hats off to the kind, caring train driver.”

A fifth replied: “Okay, somebody make a Thomas story out of this please.”

Speaking today a spokesperson for Scotrail said: “We applaud the actions of our driver when faced with this adorable, feathery family affair.

“Safety is our top priority, even for our fine-feathered friends. Thankfully, the train didn’t ruffle any feathers during this delightful encounter.”
