A GLENROTHES-based bike charity has thanked its local council following its obtainment of new premises to refurbish and sell used bicycles to the community.
Bikeworks Fife publicly thanked Fife Council Economic Development for assisting in finding and securing the local workshop and office space where is now settled, after reaching out for help.
Business Property Services within Economic Development have carried out a property search and a due diligence check of the vacant premises at the Glenrothes Food & Business Centre and made the space available in two weeks’ time.
Bikeworks Fife says it is grateful as the longer-term accommodation can allow people to buy refurbished bikes on a “pay what you can basis” or donate bikes to be repurposed.
Ian Byrne, owner of Bikeworks Fife said: “We are thrilled with our new premises and wish to thank Economic Development for pulling out all the stops to make this move happen so quickly and efficiently.
“The space was absolutely ideal for us to adapt things into the type of workshop we needed, giving us enough room for an office too.
“Most importantly, this is a long-term location for us.
“We no longer have any doubtful thoughts about the type of upheaval and uncertainty that we had unfortunately been subject to in the past.”
