A WOMAN has revealed the shocking moment she discovered that a close friend was behind the account trolling her on social media – after a link sent to her groupchat exposed her.
Writing in to Scots podcast Girls Overheard, the woman explained that she has been making fashion videos online for half a year – but that none of her friends have been supportive of the career move.
She added that she recently sent a link to one of her videos into their group chat, informing them that the outfit shown would be the one she would wear that night,
However, she then received a notification from TikTok to say that one of the friends’ accounts had viewed her video – revealing it was the same user that had been pestering her with hateful comments.
She then left an open question for podcast hosts Eilidh Wells, Ash Reid and Lauren Kerr about how she should confront her friend-turned-enemy.
Eilidh reads the woman’s message out to her co-hosts: “Caught my friend trolling me on social media.”
Co-host Ash appears shocked as Eilidh continues: “I’ve been making fashion videos online for about six months now and working towards making it an income for me.
“My friends haven’t been supportive at all. They don’t like or comment on any of my stuff and I can tell they think it’s cringe.”
Lauren then gives two middle fingers to the camera in an apparent act of support for the woman’s career choice.
“Recently, I sent the link from my TikTok into a group chat, basically to say this is what I’m wearing tonight,” Eilidh continues.
“Later that night, I get a notification to say ‘user736 blah, blah, blah viewed the video that you shared.’
“It took me a second to realise that it’s the same user who regularly leaves negativity on my videos.
“Some of them are actually really awful, such as ‘This outfit isn’t for your body type’ with, like a wee thingy face.”
Lauren replies sarcastically: “Nae bother.”
Ash looks at Lauren and laughs along with Eilidh, who concludes the confession by reading: “How do I tell her I know?”
The women appear shocked as Eilidh says: “So, she’s not even told her yet.”
The clip was shared to social media by the girls yesterday with the caption: “Secret trolls beware. TikTok is telling on you.
“What would you do?”
The videos received over 1,300 likes and dozens of comments from many users who were quick to chip in with comments of support for the anonymous fashionista.
One person wrote: “That’s not a friend, that’s a secret enemy.”
Another person said: “She is not your friend. Cut ties and get better friends.”
A third commented: “Some of my mates and fam think it’s so cringe that I post fashion content, even now when I have over 55k on Insta.
“It’s all jealousy, keep going.”
A fourth added: “This is the real Wagatha case.”
A fifth commented: “Ironically, the ‘tell all’ storytime of her exposing the so-called pal would blow up her TikTok. Name and shame ‘fashion girly.’”
