ARSENAL and USA star Matt Turner celebrated his international side’s latest victory with an unconventional post-match gender reveal for his next child.
Goalkeeper Turner usually plays second fiddle to Aaron Ramsdale for Mikel Arteta’s table-topping Gunners side, but is the USA’s main choice between the sticks on the international stage.
The 28-year-old turned out for the side again last night against El Salvador in Orlando, Florida in a 1-0 victory – and celebrated with a gender reveal to remember ahead of the birth of his second child.
A heartwarming video shows the Arsenal keeper post-match, surrounded by his teammates, wife Ashley and nine-month-old son Easton, as he holds a mini football in his hands.
The crowd can be heard in the background counting down for Turner to kick the ball in a crescendo of anticipation.
The former New England Revolution goalie then whacks the ball with his right foot, which explodes on impact and sends a puff of pink dye flying into the sky – revealing he will soon be the father to a girl.
His teammates – including Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic and Leeds United’s Brendan Aaronson – immediately rush over to congratulate him and embrace their international team-mate.
The camera then pans over to Turner’s wife and their son Easton, who is wearing a pair of ear protectors.
Pulisic rushes over to congratulate the mum-to-be as Turner finally breaks out of the celebratory huddle and heads over to his wife soon after.
The fans who have stayed behind post-match then break into a ‘Thank You, Turner’ chant as his teammates continue to mill around, congratulating both mum and dad.
The video has received over 39,000 likes and hundreds of comments from users who shared their adoration for the couple – and American captain Pulisic for his touching gesture.
Many people have praised the American captain Pulisic for going over to Ashley and Easton to congratulate them as well as offering their congratulations to Turner.
One said: “Pulisic going to congratulate Mrs Turner is so wholesome. Captain America.”
Another added: “The fact Christian went to Matt’s wife to celebrate.”
A third replied: “Pulisic a real one for that first hug.”
Another retorted: “Daughter gonna (sic) have a Premier League winner as a dad.”
A fifth responded: “This is so wholesome.”
Turner will now return to England where his Arsenal side face 14th-placed Leeds this weekend, looking to maintain their eight point advantage at the summit of the Premier League.
