Creepy Scots teacher who treated colleague’s daughter as a “sex object” struck off after over 50 allegations proven against him

A CREEPY Scots teacher who treated his colleague’s daughter as a “sex object” has been struck off after more than 50 allegations were proven against him.

Alexander Lamont was employed at a school in South Lanarkshire in 2018 when he grew close to an S6 pupil – who was also the daughter of one of his colleagues.

The disgraced English teacher hounded the girl – known only as Pupil A – in a variety of sexually motivated actions – including sending her a video of himself masturbating.

Lamont’s slew of allegations also included telling the pupil he wanted to “put his tongue between your thighs” and that he wanted to make her “scream daddy”.

Lamont had confessed to the pupil that he had never wanted anyone as much as he wanted her – after telling his class that it was “disgusting” for people in power to abuse their position.

The creepy teacher faced a three day hearing in front of teaching watchdog the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) last week – but elected not to attend.

Lamont’s actions left the pupil feeling “used and manipulated”, which she revealed in a statement to the GTCS on Thursday.

She said: “We began to email back and forth for hours confessing that we liked each other. He questioned whether I was too innocent for him.

“I admitted to him that I had developed feelings for him and would like to be with him when I left school.

“He told me he felt the same and it was exciting and he wanted me.

“Alex told me to add his Snapchat, we began to talk normally and sent selfies but soon he started asking questions about whether I was a virgin or if I had kinks.

“This was uncomfortable as nobody had talked to me this way before.

“He said how he liked to be called daddy and began to tell me how he wanted to kiss me and he said he wanted to make me scream daddy.

“I liked talking to Alex but I felt really uncomfortable but went along with it because I wanted to please him.”

The innocent schoolgirl also told how Lamont would often invite her to visit his flat in Glasgow’s West End just off of plush Byres Road but she would refuse.

Pupil A said: “Alex always found a way to turn it sexual – he would tell me that he wished he could see more of me.

“I sent him a selfie of me in my pyjamas and then he asked me to send a picture of my mouth but I felt uncomfortable and I would say I don’t know.

“I sent a photo of me in my bra and he sent me a video of him masturbating, it was so out of character for me but I felt I had no choice.

“I felt hurt as I felt I was being used, the only time he would talk to me was when he was looking for someone to satisfy him.

“I was left very confused as he told me he cared about me.

“When people questioned the way he was around me I defended him and I told him I loved him and would do anything for him.”

The teacher told Pupil A that it made him “uncomfortable” that she loved him and that “nobody would believe her anyway” after she expressed her anger at his treatment of her.

She said: “I began to miss classes as I felt upset and stuck. I pushed my friends away but wasn’t sure if Alex would do what he did to anyone else.

“It all began to get a bit too much and I wanted to speak up, I was going to report it to a guidance teacher but saw Alex on the way – I made up a lie.

“After the holidays I went back to Alex’s class, I felt used, manipulated and betrayed. I got angry with him and he told me nobody would believe me anyway.”

Following a two-hour private session on Friday, convenor Diane Molyneux announced the teaching watchdog’s decision.

She said: “The panel has found the teacher has fallen significantly short and is therefore unfit to teach according to rule 2.10.1.

“As the teacher has been found unfit to teach, the panel must direct that the teacher’s name be removed from the general register of teachers.”

The GTCS asked Presenting Officer Lauren Doherty for her observations on what length of ban the disgraced English teacher should face.

Ms. Doherty said: “I would submit that the usual period of two years be applied.

“Public interest [in the case] is firmly engaged given the serious nature of the allegations in order to maintain confidence in GTCS as a professional regulator.

“The teacher has made no admission or effort to show remorse, he has not engaged substantively in that respect and as such there is no remediation.

“In terms of public protection on the part of the teacher, the risk of repetition is high and that should be at the forefront of the panel’s mind.

“In my submission to conclude, the seriousness of the allegations, pattern of behaviour displayed and lack of insight, I submit again that teachers’ actions have clearly fallen significantly short of a registered teacher and are fundamentally incompatible with a registered teacher.”

Lamont now faces a ban of up to two years before he can re-apply to become a teacher.
