Touching moment Still Game legend sings along with co-star for his birthday

THIS is the touching moment Still Game legend Paul Riley reunited with a much-loved cast member of the iconic Scots show to share a sing-song.

Riley – who played Winston Ingram in the show – is currently touring Scotland on his ‘Auld Before My Time’ stage show where he takes a look at his 30 year career, including his time on Still Game.

The 53-year-old appeared at the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh, East Lothian on Saturday, where he shared a sweet moment with former co-star James Martin for his birthday.

Martin played Eric Jones in Still Game for eight seasons, and was one of the few actors who was actually a senior citizen.

In a video, Riley can be seen strumming on a guitar whilst Martin sits in the front row of seats, singing along to Irish folk ballad The Fields of Athenry.

Their reunion came as Martin celebrated his 92nd birthday on Monday, and Riley shared the sweet birthday sing along to social media.

The clip shows the much-loved pensioner in a trilby hat and black coat, standing with his walking stick as he sings along to the beloved Irish tune.

Martin croons: “Let the small free birds fly, our love was on the wing, we had dreams and songs to sing, it’s so lonely by the fields of Athenry.”

Riley can be seen on stage playing his guitar and grinning as he soaks in the touching moment between the pair, eventually joining in on the chorus.

Riley shared the video on social media yesterday with the simple caption: “Happy Birthday Jimmy.”

The clip has received over 800 likes and dozens of comments from users, some of whom were quick to reference a much-quoted moment in Still Game.

One said: “Some chanter Eric, some chanter.”

Another added: “Never thought I’d see Winston and Eric singing The Fields of Athenry.”

A third commented: “Happy birthday James Martin, still a legend.”

Winston and Eric would often appear together on-screen where they would discuss the bookies and WInston’s bets and in one legendary clip – Eric’s summer of romance with the late Gina Lollobrigida.
