SCOTS legal practice Balfour+Manson has boosted its employment team with the arrival of two highly regarded employment lawyers.
The company has hired Simon Mayberry as Partner and Head of the Employment team, and Kenzie Howard as a solicitor.
Simon, who was previously at Shoosmiths, is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law.
He has worked in a variety of industries, with a large number of clients in hospitality, charities, sports and manufacturing.
His experience extends to all types of claims in the Employment Tribunal, along with defending claims in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal.
He trained at Turcan Connell and has also worked at Digby Brown, Ellis Whittam Limited (now WorkNest) and employment law specialists LexLeyton, which was taken over by Shoosmiths in 2021.
Elaine Motion, Executive Chairman of Balfour+Manson said: “Simon is a hugely talented and highly experienced employment lawyer who will be a real asset to both the employment team and wider firm.
“His appointment follows the announcement that Scott Foster is joining us as Chief Operating Officer and these two appointments show that Balfour+Manson really means business in 2023.”
Simon said: “I’m delighted to join Balfour+Manson, a firm with a tremendous and richly deserved reputation for great lawyers and superb client service.
“I look forward to working with the employment team and wider firm to uphold that reputation, providing top-class advice to clients in an ever-changing employment law landscape.”
Simon is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and a Board Trustee of Carr Gomm, a large Scottish care charity.
Kenzie Howard is a talented young lawyer who worked for specialist employment firm WorkNest before joining Balfour+Manson at the turn of the year.
Elaine said: “We’re delighted to have a great young talent like Kenzie on board and I’m certain she will thrive under Simon and his fellow partner Sarah Shiels, who leads on employee, trade union and equality law.”
“Supported by Trainee Solicitor Jess Armstrong, the team is looking forward to working with clients old and new in a very busy and exciting 2023.”
