Hilarious video shows Scots minnow football club ultras descending on match with flares and megaphones

A HILARIOUS video shows the fans of a small Scottish football club taking their support to the next level by descending on a match with flares and megaphones.

Vale of Clyde FC, who play in the sixth tier of Scottish football, were playing at home to Thornton Hibs in the South Challenge Cup on Saturday.

The West of Scotland League Third Division side play their home games at Fullarton Park in the east end of Glasgow, where they enjoy a dedicated fanbase.

However, some younger fans of the club decided to make this fixture a memorable one as they turned up with flares, flags, drums and even a megaphone to cheer on their local team.

Video shows a large group of youngsters singing loudly on the sidelines of the ongoing Vale match, equipped with a number of flags dedicated to their team.

Six youths are spaced out all the way down the sideline, each of them waving a bright red flare which clouds the view of the pitch in a hazy smokescreen.

All the while, a megaphone can be heard sounding some sort of alarm as an unseen member of the “ultras” beats rythmically on a drum.

This emphatic show of support seemed to help the team to a 1-0 win over their Fife opponents, progressing onto the next round of the cup.

The dramatic display of support clearly caught the attention of Vale, who tweeted on Sunday saying: ““Ultras in fine form at yesterday’s 1-0 win over Thornton Hibs FC.””

The video was posted on social media after the game where it soon attracted over 200 likes and dozens of comments from impressed footy fans.

One user said: “Good on you lads.”

Another added: “They were like this as soon as we turned up fair play.”

A third replied: “Class from the wee boys.”

Another commented: “Out supporting their local team into the next round of the cup.”

A fifth joked: “Lucky it’s not a school day.”

After the win, Vale of Clyde tweeted: “Ultras in fine form at yesterday’s 1-0 win over ?
Thornton Hibs FC.”

Bruce Scobbie, committee member at Vale of Clyde FC, said today: ” It all started at the start of the season.

“We had advertised for people to come out and support the local team. The young guys showed up and have been coming to every home game.

“They are totally self-funded. They bought their own hoodies, scarfs as well as design and make their own banners all paid for by them.

“They are all local boys and girls. The club let them in for nothing and they turn up in all weathers an hour before kick off with drums, flags and megaphones.

“The players and board have grasped this as it is so important to try and get youth in as it’s the future of the club.”
