Four bedroom property on sale for half a million – complete with model railway in the back garden

A FOUR bedroom family home has come on the market for a cool half a million – and comes complete with its own model railway in the back garden.

The house, set in the quiet village of Rownhams, Hampshire, was listed on property website Rightmove on Wednesday (DEC 28) for £550,000.

Images show the detached property which features four bedrooms, one bathroom and a garden spanning over half an acre in size.

The house itself gives off a very retro feeling, with an array of simplistic furniture, exposed wood throughout and pale green and beige colour schemes throughout.

However, it is the garden that has grabbed house hunters’ attentions.

Two images within the property listing show a large model railway set laid out over almost the entirety of the diameter of the garden.

The railway is elevated above ground level by dozens of wooden legs and is set in an oval shape, encompassing two picnic benches and a sizeable tree in the middle.

A lone train can be seen traversing the rails in one image, dwarfed by the scale of both the railway set and the garden itself.

The model railway has been included as a selling point for the property, with estate agents Pearsons making note of it witin the listing.

They wrote: “There are extensive, mature gardens to the side and rear extending to just over half an acre, enjoying a west facing aspect to the rear and well-stocked with a wide variety of mature trees, shrubs and specimen plants, paved patio and areas laid to lawn, there is a garden shed and greenhouse both having power.

“The gardens are an ideal playground for children and a haven for keen gardeners. To the side of the property is a Gauge 1 model railway track which will be of undoubted interest to enthusiasts.”

The property was discovered by one house browser who shared it to social media on Wednesday (DEC 28) simply writing: “Surprise Model Railway.”

One user replied: “I wouldn’t say no to that even if it needs updating. Clearly someone who enjoyed their passion too.”

Another commented: “If we didn’t already have an offer accepted elsewhere, we would definitely have taken a look, ticks a lot of boxes.”

Another added: “That’s a really sweet house.”

The average property cost in the Rownhams area was £490,915 over the last year, according to Rightmove.
