Shocking video shows alleged Evri depot filled with thousands of unguarded, undelivered parcels

A SHOCKING video has shown an alleged Evri depot filled with thousands of unguarded, undelivered parcels just one week before Christmas.

Footage was captured yesterday by a woman who wishes to remain anonymous, showing a large warehouse which the woman claims is Evri’s depot in Boldon Business Park, Tyne and Wear.

The 53-year-old woman claims she was able to freely walk into the building as the “door was open” and “not one person” was in the warehouse.

The short video shows hundreds of crates and boxes stacked atop each other stretching back into the warehouse as far as the eye can see.

Parcel cages and yellow and blue crates can be seen scattered around the warehouse, which is brightly lit and appears to have at least three large roller doors open to the outside world.

No people appear in any part of the video, leaving the impression that the warehouse is seemingly abandoned.

The woman, from Sunderland, County Durham, shared the video to social media yesterday with the caption.

She wrote: “Anyone waiting for anything from Evri for Christmas, don’t hold your breath [as] it’s not getting delivered anytime soon.

“Not one person in warehouse today, I could have walked away with the lot because the door was open, absolute disgrace that any retailer are still in contracts with this joke of a company.”

The video has been shared over 600 times and has received countless comments from users who reacted with mixed feelings over the video.

One user wrote: “Disgrace this, and no one claim refunds from the companies.”

Another wrote: “I’ve been waiting three weeks for stuff from George from Asda, they keep emailing me saying it’s on its way, from Russia by the time it’s taking.”

However, one person said: “Looks like most parcel warehouses, actually it looks better!”

Another commented: “All couriers are also picking up the slack from Royal Mail and Parcel Force being on strike.

“So on top of the normal xmas rush they are taking on so much extra so yes we [are] all very p****d off [but] please remember these men & women are all human and working 13-15 hour days to try to get parcels out.

“They [are] being run into the ground ending up stressed and ill, so for all [the] general public are frustrated it’s not the individual courier fault.”

The woman claims the building is Evri’s depot in Boldon Business Park, Tyne and Wear.

Another user wrote: “So they are giving evidence that they trespassed on private property?”

Speaking today the woman said: “I’ve been there three times last week as Evri have my Christmas parcels for weeks.

“A manager allocated one for me and told me others were there but couldn’t get them and promised my items would be out for delivery in 48 hours that was last week, but I still have no parcels.

“I went yesterday and there was a door open and a light on so I went in, it was carnage as you can see on my video.

“I could have walked away with all sorts if I was like that, poor people’s parcels just lying on the floor and in big crates it was disgusting.

“My husband was there Thursday and Friday and both of us yesterday, plus another lady turned up looking for her things.

“As we left there was a guy turned up who was a delivery driver finishing a shift and just went home – he looked sick of his life too.

“The office doors were open too because I knocked as there was a light on but no one answered, I walked in and no one was there at all, just parcels lying about in the offices.”

A spokesperson for Evri today said: “The security of our parcels and sites is a priority, and we have CCTV in place across all our sites in addition to secured access.

“We are aware that a member of the public gained unauthorised access to one depots via a staff entrance.

“They were identified promptly and asked to leave the depot floor due to the health and safety risk that this posed.

“We are currently handling record volumes of deliveries around Christmas, and our team are working hard to deliver more than 3 million parcels a day.”
