HOUSE-HUNTERS have spotted almost 200 Garfield the cats taking over a one-bedroom property that has just hit the market.
The end-terraced home in Westlea, Swindon has caught the eye of online browsers due to the cartoon character appearing as the prominent decor theme throughout.
Images show at least 170 items relating to the fictional feline scattered around the kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.
An open-planned kitchen features a white and blue colour scheme synonymous with the blue and white background of the famous Jim Davis comic strip.
Matching with the overall cartoonish theme, a set of Garfield oven gloves and tea cosy, calendar and multiple figurines of the lasagna-loving cat are shown dotted around the kitchen.
A cosy living room is filled with Garfield memorabilia including one climbing the walls, plush toys sitting on chairs, and even a large watch representing the grumpy-but-lovable character.
Upstairs the bedroom is overflowing with items continuing to give a nod to the cynical cat – including a throw, pillows, curtains, multiple soft toys and a Garfield-head alarm clock.
The bathroom is not exempt from the proud house owner’s fandom as dozens of Garfield rubber bath toys adorn the room.
Estate agents Richard James listed the property on the market on Thursday (24 NOV) for offers over £170,000.
Making no mention of the obvious theme throughout, they said: “We are delighted to offer for sale this one bedroom house which is situated in a no through road.
“The property benefits from uPVC double glazing, gas radiator central heating, fitted kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, gardens and allocated parking space.”
The property has got tongues wagging online on a house hunting forum.
One person said: “Wonder what their favourite cartoon character is?”
Another wrote: “Are we not playing ‘spot the cat’ with this one?”
Garfield first gained fame in 1976 when Jim Davis, known then as “Jon”, published the hilarious comic strip as a gag-a-day in his local paper.
The story chronicles the life of cartoon cat Garfield and his owner Jon.
By 1988 the comic strip was turned into a TV show that lasted up until 1995 until it took a break and restarted again in 2009 due to high demand.
