Loved up duo secure first house after living with parents for 18 months
A YOUNG couple has taken the plunge and bought their first home together after living in a spare room at one of their parents’ houses.
Partners Sophie Bell and Lewis Alexander recently purchased their first home at Dundas’ Uphall Station Village development.
The pair, who have been together for five years, had been living at Sophie’s parents’ house for a year and a half.
Craving their own space, Sophie, 25, and Lewis, 25, were drawn to the spacious three-bedroom Gilroy house-type at the Dundas development, and purchased the property earlier this year.
The new-build house was perfect for the couple, who had viewed a number of differently styled buildings and tenements, as they wanted a fresh start and a space that they could truly make their own.
Sophie said: “We had been looking for our own place for a long time. While living at my parents’ house has been great and extremely convenient, Lewis and I were more than ready to leave.
“With our space, we will be able to build our dream home in our own style and that has been the most exciting thing about making the move.
“While we will miss living with my Mum and Dad, swapping a room for a house was a no brainer, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind having their space to themselves once again.”
Having grown up in the area and currently working in South Gyle in finance, Sophie was keen to live in Uphall – a short 18-minute commute to work and only 20-minutes from Edinburgh City Centre by train.
Sophie said: “When we first went to view the Uphall Station Village development, we really liked the size of the Gilroy house. It was perfect for two people and would give us plenty of room to host friends and family. As Lewis works from home, it also meant that we were able to turn the third bedroom into an office space.
“We were delighted when we finally purchased our new home. We were so eager to move in and couldn’t wait to get our keys. Our sales rep would keep us updated as much as possible throughout our journey and would send us photos if and when they could – it was all very reassuring.
“Although we only moved into Uphall Station Village a few months ago, we are already loving our Gilroy house-type. There is so much space, which means there is lots that we can customise. We are thrilled with our new Dundas property and we can’t wait to make many happy memories in our first-ever home.”
With many amenities in close proximity to Uphall Station Village, such as a wide range of shops, sport and leisure facilities, popular schools and places to eat, the development is the perfect location for first-time buyers as well as growing families.
All properties at the Uphall Station Village development benefit from roof-mounted solar panels, generous gardens, private parking and high-spec SMEG appliances.
The developer is focused on building welcoming, integrated communities, and making the journey of buying a home more straightforward, inspiring and fun.
