Scots tech firm reveals involvement in Amazon Prime series

A SCOTS tech firm has revealed its involvement with the team behind a new Amazon Prime dating series.

Digital display company, Pufferfish, has played a role in the team which has created Amazon Prime’s new celestial dating show, Cosmic Love. 

One of the Edinburgh-based company’s products, the PufferSphere, has a role throughout the Amazon Original series airing now on the global streaming service.   

At the heart of the new dating concept is a mystical guide, the Astro Chamber, which helps four individuals navigate their search for the perfect spouse via astrological matchmaking.

The chamber is designed and built by video production service company, RabCup, featuring astrological-themed content from projection specialists Go2 Productions Inc. 

The set features a “floating” version of a PufferSphere digital display with a 1200mm spherical screen – invented, designed and created in Pufferfish’s Edinburgh studio, and shipped to the show’s creators in Malibu, California. 

Cosmic Love’s set creators desired an element that the show’s participants could interact with, but which wouldn’t cast shadows on the set, to maintain the “immersive experience”. 

Pufferfish sat that the PufferSphere achieves that through the utilisation internal projection. 

The entertainment sector is a key growth platform for Pufferfish, alongside corporate communications, museums, planetariums, and other visitor attractions, and educational institutions. 

The company works with partners in these sectors and builds spherical digital displays that deliver a multi-sensory experience, combining sound, vision, data, and touch.

“Our interactive display technology and the production concept were perfectly compatible. 

“We always knew our multi-sensory technology could do a lot – but matchmaking is a new feature for us to add to our list!”

Pufferfish has previously worked with NASA, Google and the BBC, and is currently focused on accessing new markets. 

The company recently launched a further £600k funding round to support its scale-up ambitions.
