Scots law firm bolsters team with raft of new partners and directors

A SCOTS law firm has bolstered its leadership team with a raft of new partners and directors.

Independent law firm Anderson Strathern has promoted two new partners alongside six new directors.

New partners Gary Burton and Robbie Wilson are leading specialists in the firm’s Healthcare, Public and Regulatory team.

Gary specialises in personal injury actions and heads the firm’s Catastrophic Personal Injury Unit.

He is accredited as a specialist by the Law Society of Scotland in Regulation of Professional Conduct Law and appears in high profile regulatory cases in the areas of teaching, nursing and social care.

Robbie leads Anderson Strathern’s Medical Negligence Unit, which has a multi-million-pound caseload across medical negligence cases in Scotland, including birth injury, misdiagnosis and fatal claims.

He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in medical negligence and also sits on the panel that approves the medical negligence accreditations of other lawyers.

Chair Bruce Farquhar said: “I’m very proud to support colleagues to develop their careers within Anderson Strathern.

“Their exemplary work ensures that we are a modern, highly effective law firm with skilled teams.

“Medical negligence cases are particularly key for the firm because the cross-referral opportunities drive performance and growth in other departments, such as trust work for the Private Client team and investment advice for our asset management services.”

A further six lawyers have been promoted to directors: Elizabeth MacGregor (Commercial Real Estate/Rural Land and Business); Tom Docherty and Gillian Murray (Dispute Resolution); Robin Turnbull, (Employment, Immigration and Pensions); Karen Craig (Rural Land and Business); Fiona Savage, Commercial Real Estate.

In April 2021, the firm announced a merger with Shetland-based Neil Risk Solicitor and Estate Agents.

Founded in 1992, Anderson Strathern have offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Shetland and East Lothian.
